Re: While the 250 is pulled...

Got the other half cleaned up. Started to scrape off the crud from the transmission, hoping to shoot some primer tonight. And get the head in some degreaser...

Re: While the 250 is pulled...

Let’s suppose that in the intermediate future I want to swap to a 292. And right now, I’ve got the head off my 250. If I bring the head to a machine shop and have it cleaned up a bit,can I use this head on a 292? Is there any disadvantage? Basically I don’t want to sink too much into this if it won’t benefit me later

Yes. It's the same head.

Re: While the 250 is pulled...

Engine is back in the truck. Need to start buttoning up loose ends. When I reinstalled the transmission, the clutch seems like it needs a lot of adjustment (3/4 a 1 inch on rod). I replaced motor mounts (shot), body mounts (almost absent they were so gone), flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bushing. Does this amount of adjustment make sense?

Re: While the 250 is pulled...

Probably, but you checked that when you disengage the clutch that the truck rolls, right? I've been under a vehicle in the dark and put the pressure plate in backwards. It's annoying to have to redo it.
