Those are the only clamps I will use now,I use to use worm drive clamps in the past,but found them to loosen of and/ or strip out when over tightening them,I have been trying to find these in larger sizes for heater hoes and rad hose applications

Good stuff Killer Bee.

I was looking for an equivalent of your fuel clamps for 5/8" & 3/4" hose. Came up short for new ones, because the band width is 1/2" for water pump and intake ports. New ones are 3/4" wide, though the "Corvette" replacements might fit. But then I came across these. Pulled the trigger on two pair (yikes), heater and bypass hoses. They're original I'd say, looks like a thick band.

Not right for this truck, but better than the average worm drive seems. Not sure about the 5/8" heater hose yet, maybe Wittek. I probably won't install tower clamps for any of the water hoses.

My truck still had the original tower clamps for power steering, flame arrestor and fuel tank. They're still nice, so I'll probably install those. All the original water hose clamps are gone, probably for good reason.

Sorry didn't have time to read every post in this thread, but the quality ones I've found at the Witteks (either orig or repro company) from Eckler's Corvette. The ones I got from truck and car restoration places were paper thin garbage, but the Eckler's ones, while pricier, actually worked as good clamps, which is nice!

It's actually not clear to me that tower clamps were still used on the trucks in 69/70 but the motors came from Tonawanda and should be the same as cars, so I don't know what o believe!

as far as how late tower clamps were installed..

feb 71 longhorn all four radiator clamps





and nov 71 mfr 72 my k1500 burb gas fill hose

I like these style clamps. Only down side is they have metric heads. SAE nut drivers won't work on the ones I have.

yer right about that! I had to plug metric 1/4 dr sockets on my driver handle cuz my fancy nut runners didn't fit

but they do seem to work good with even tension so ill give 'em a pass on the metric heads

Ah metric. My truck was metric free until I installed the Moog steering linkage. Some of their "SAE" tie rods are metric, according to they you get what you get.

I think I found a set of 5/8" hose clamps to "match" the 3/4" I ordered the other day. Parts book says they're 7/8", but also says 3/4-1". Seller says they're a 1" opening and that should be correct for a 5/8" hose, which is a pinch under 1". Book says they were used in various applications, they run back to the 50s if I recall. Hit and miss through 72 or so. Were about half what I paid for the 3/4"

Hopefully that just leaves the 1.5" lines. At this point I think near solid band worm-drives, to match things up. Otherwise I'd be all over T-bolts.


Edit: They're exactly for 5/8" ID hose

YESSS! "Truckster", in post #5 in this thread asked me about this after I mentioned I had seen them on an SPID here. So, one of those rare options, but really exist.

I never really thought about clamps. I just re-tighten my worm gear clamps occasionally, but they do leak sometimes, agreed. Good thread. -BA

IK,R? That would be next choice, right after I ordered the Corvette engine with the 3/4 cam in my truck.
