Good times... good thing you turned around that could have gotten ugly. I used the uhual car hauler to drag my 72 home. I used my 3/4 ton 98 Chevy to pull it. The surge brakes on those trailers suck bad. The truck will fit the trailer but just barely.

Well, I haven't given up yet! So I have a new plan. I'm heading down there tomorrow to look at it/pay for it. If everything goes to plan, I will then sign up for AAA premium. They tow up 100 miles per tow, and 1 tow up to 200 miles once a year. It's 225 miles one way, if you go through the mountains. 275 if you don't. I will then have AAA tow it home! I have to admit, I'm nearly brilliant! Had I thought about this last weekend, I wouldn't have nearly died or wasted $200, and had my truck by now. OK, so maybe I'm nearly an idiot as well. Oh yeah, I plan on making up for the last 25 miles with a crisp $100 bill taped to the steering wheel. I hope that's enough to get the driver to take it the last little bit. Wish me luck guys!

I hope that works for you BUT AAA is wise to those ways and most towing services don't start for 3 days after you become a member . Pretty sure it has to be licensed/ registered in your name .

Upon activation and with proper identification, AAA will provide regular AAA services and full privileges for the new member. Roadside benefits begin (3) three days after payment of dues. Some restrictions apply.

I've used Uhaul trailers a bunch and I'd just rent one in the town your picking the truck up from and then your just towing the trailer 1 way home , Their trailers are heavy but work pretty good .

I called AAA while I was on site. They have a $245 "same day" fee, but they will tow it the same day you join. But... I ended up not buying it. It had a little more rust than he led me to believe, and the engine ran like a bucket of turds. It's a good truck for someone, but too much for me. At this point, I think I may hold off until spring. Hopefully there are more options a little closer to me.

If anyone else here is interested, let me know and I'll fill you in on what I saw.
