Re: A/C System Trouble Shooting

Want to Thank Everyone for their input and suggestions to upgrade the whole enchilada, but I am staying with the basic old factory system sans the POA, R12 and Old Air Products aluminum bodied A6 compressor upgrade...it's only a retirees work truck, I can live with it's (by todays standards) short comings.

Re: A/C System Trouble Shooting

Update on my A/C system. I replaced the compressor and it started charging as it should, that was the first gremlin solved.

The POA upgrade as several advised is a real POS fix as my compressor just kept cycling, very annoying to say the least. My original POA was a Delco body which is non rebuildable, but serviceable and calibratable for R134A if it test good for $275 plus shipping....ouch!!

I located a Fridgidaire rebuildable body that had been cleaned, serviced and calibrated for R134A for $70 on ebay from a private party.

I installed it today, vacuumed and recharged the system and am happy to say I now have Ice Cold A/C with a smooth running original POA system.

Thanks again for all the help and advice as I am now well seasoned on the POS POA upgrades.
