There is always the removal of wear particulates to consider as well. I don't care if an oil is good for 15k. I'm changing it more often to give contaminants less chance to eat

Those guys would pull the filter and top off the engine every 3k miles after they submitted an oil analysis. I just change it and go about my way. What am i spending compared to lab analysis. Then again Cummins diesels in pickups hold 3 gallons.
