That's exactly what I did, I would also recomend painting all of the green on the back portion of the cluster. It will make the rest of the guages brighter and the tach will not seem as bright.

I used a Sunpro with programmable shift light integrated....I did cut the back of the cluster and mounted it.

i have one of the summit ones that changes colors at the push of a button, i know kinda ricey but my lady got it for me and it fits perfectly flush and looks killer when it is lit up blue. let me see if i can get a pic

how do you do it with the circuit? do you run the wires underneath it?

Circuit panel is flexible....just ran the wires around it.

The camaro tach doesn't need a circuit board, it has three lugs on the back, GND, 12V and tach input. Hook it up and go. There was a member who wrote up detailed instructions on how to put it in the dash too. Not any harder than putting in the others, and it looks more stock matches the factory gauges more. The others look good too, just can still tell it was not a factory part and looks very aftermarket, not that that's bad. All depends on what look you are going for.
