Re: How much did your truck cost>
I traded a rust bucket 1998 S10 I had listed for $1,500 for mine with a guy off Craigslist. Both ran and drove, but had some issues.
Like people said before. The free ones can be the most expensive!!! |

Re: How much did your truck cost>
Found my truck on Craigslist for $500.00 Was a long bed, pulled the bed and sold for $600, so I guess it paid for my gas to go and grab it

Re: How much did your truck cost>
Well my truck cost me nothing as I received it as a graduation gift but, so far I have about $6,500 in her for bodywork to get her back to 110% factory and in her suspension I haven't even begun to do the electrical, drivetrain, paint or, interior yet and, she's a non A/C, high hump, small window, longbed.

Re: How much did your truck cost>
I yarded mine out of a field for $1,000 bucks.
I've got almost $10,000 bucks in to it... So if my math is right... it's worth about $3,500 bucks! Gary

Re: How much did your truck cost>
Six years ago I felt like I paid way to much. I was specifically looking for a short bed K series and the pickings were pretty slim. The purchase price pain is long gone and I'm 100% glad that I pulled the trigger.

Re: How much did your truck cost>
I gave $1500 for for my 1970 C10 about 15 years ago. It wasn't much to look at but it ran ok and was all original. Spent about 6 or 7 k on it 3 years ago. It runs and drives better than new now but still ain't much to look at, lol.
Here it is right after I put the new motor in it. I could use a good cleaning right now, I may just go ahead and put a coat of primer on it. Oh, I did straighten the bed up after this picture but I need to take it off and redo it. It has a wooden floor with diamond plate over it and the wood has started to rot on the drivers side. Re: How much did your truck cost>
I agree on people not being honest about the current PU pricing. Scroll up and you will see I paid 3 times the factory price for the K20 I now own, and I am happy, I know I got a good price for a solid truck.
However I am always looking for that estate sale where they just want to get that pickup of Gramps out of the garage ASAP !

Paid $1,400 four years ago. Spend about $4,000 on upgrades. It's my daily driver most of the year.

My brother picked up this 68 about a month ago for $3,800. Not a crazy good deal, but still worth every penny.

I found this piece of junk in 1989 for $2500-2800, I don't remember more than the salesman said "you'd have paid 3K huh?"....I have the receipt someplace. It was parked on the corner facing main street on a tiny lot, a car lot is still there. Less paint and a very few items the truck was unmolested. I didn't recognize that until I tore her down. No rust issues to speak of less battery damage. I had to trace back some things removed under my ownership, but good to go or should be. One owner, old man RIP traded it in. He bought it locally. I have all the paper work, 402 with A/C. The old guy ordered it with a step bumper/receiver hitch, camper mirrors, saddle tanks. He had brackets installed for his 5th wheel, and a boat launching hitch too. So the bed and front bumper were jacked up for his adventure. Dude even ordered leaf springs, made my life miserable when it came to E-brakes etc., and especially a sport bumper I'd have recommended a LWB to the old gent, but I'm glad he bought it Luck has it I found a good bed, must be 10 or so years ago now, 8 minutes from me, and the dude just happened to have a front bumper too. Luck again that bumper had one nice park light assembly, my old one had the other $1200 for that bed and bumper, he kept my old bed. Just don't ask what I'm into it now

Re: How much did your truck cost>
Paid $3350 for my C20 Super 4-5 years ago. Quite a story how I got it, but I can't admit to it. Was thinking about parting it out early, but I put 3K into it instead. 402/A/C. Rust, but good parts when I need it as if meant for it. It runs, stops, decent suspension, and not much else really works. Fun as heck to drive, no reason to wash but the engine compart and cool wheels

Re: How much did your truck cost>
There are still deals out there but they are getting scarce. Haggerty has pretty much doubled the value on these trucks in the last few years. The guy I bought mi e from seems to find d one or two a month and he had a guy come by a couple weeks ago and pay him some outrageous prices for the junk he had sitting around. The guy was shipping them overseas.

Re: How much did your truck cost>
I paid $500 for mine back in 1989. It was probably too much but I was a teenager and just had to have it. It had a wore out 292 and a super cool spotlight that made the roof rot out eventually, haha youth.

Re: How much did your truck cost>
I have purchased a few trucks over the years. Some have been good great deals, some OK, and some not so good. Overall I love to see the people who ended up with the great deals.

Re: How much did your truck cost>
I paid $350.00 for a 69 K20 in 1991. No motor and in pieces. Still have it. I paid $1500 for a 72 Cheyenne short bed back in 1988 or so. It was in great shape, ran and drove, looked good from 30'. Back then I could buy complete trucks for $500 all day long. Basically parts trucks or old farm trucks that had been retired. Wish I would have saved all the ones I have had over the years.

Re: How much did your truck cost>
I paid 1,700 for it in the condition in top picture.. allmost a year later Ive driven it once, back home haha I prefer not to think of all the extra cost in parts and upgrades hahahahaha IF we are talking that, then probably close to 7,500 with the LS, TH400, Harness, Drop Spindles, Disc Brakes, New Rims/Tires, New Suspension, New Fuel System. It's sitting more or less like it is in the second picture. And now Im rethinking running EFI and may carb the LS as well as slamming it on bags haha it never ends

Re: How much did your truck cost>
Found my 72 C10 on Craig’s list 5 year’s ago, paid $4200. It was original paint and from California. Cars and trucks from southern states bring more money here in Minnesota. I have put another 6 - 7 grand into it so far, and will most likely spend that much or more on it in the years to come. I wouldn’t have had to do anything to it, it ran and drove just fine. But it’s a toy, and I enjoy working on it. Any work that it needs I do myself (except exhaust). Soon I will be looking for another truck for my wife. She wants her own with A/C And auto transmission.
