Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
Well been getting a few little things done, mainly waiting on parts. I have ordered as much as I can as soon as I figured out what I wanted but still slow to arrive. But I did get the gas tank ready, it's a s10 blazer tank I'm putting in the rear. Because the motor is carburetor I got a carb sending unit, turns out to be perfect length but too small for the hole. So I made a ring and welded it to the sending unit to give me what I needed and done.

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
I got the rear axle all cleaned up, painted with all new brakes and for the first time in years this truck has an axle bolted under it.
Front brake lines are all installed as well as the ps lines. I got the rad support modified to hold the rad, oh and if you let a motor sit out in the farm land make sure you check the thermostat housing for corn. lol

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
good luck with that!
the I6 that came out of my 3800 had YEARS of mice living in the intake manifold. little jerks used the cylinders with open valves as their nut shell scrap trash bin. there motor was literally "nut locked" and couldn't turn over. |

Look on the bright side, with a stat in place it kept the engine from being filled with corn. Otherwise you would have popcorn shooting out your tailpipe.. ha ha

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
The ac/heater came in less than a week from the US I got some rad hoses to work, they are from a 1987 chevy 1500 just had to shorten them a bit. Then I pulled off the bed that was just sitting there and made the gas tank have a home. I'm using 2"X1/4" flat bar for the under tank support then there will be thinner bolt on straps for top.

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
Finally got the flywheel and clutch then picked up a starter, to see if everything plays nice together I had to prime the oil system, since it was dry. Then I cranked over the motor everything is good so far. Once the cab was set back on I got the E-brake handle figured out and hooked up. Didn't even adjust the new back brakes and it works.

Re: Someone else's truck. '48 Chev
The 2.5" stainless exhaust pipes showed up, and apparently there was still something really interesting in the box, it was some packing paper LOL.
Today the clutch peddle assembly showed up, looks really nice.
