Re: Where have all the suburbans gone
I got the info packet from Chevrolet Heritage a while back, and it said Chevy only made 166 K/10 Suburbans for Model Year 1967.
Not selling to locals? That's just mean. To find Blazer parts for my Jimmy I had to go to the Bay Area and that was 20 years ago. To a man that's been running these rigs for 49 years, the current parts prices are insane. Of course inflation is a big factor. I did OK looking for repair parts for my '68 C/10 Stepside recently. 1 Pr Trailing Arms for C/10 short, ....$125 1 RH Step Fender ['68]...................$350 1 GMC Grille + Rad wall ['71]..........$200 1 12-Bolt Rear Differential ['65].......$200 A Brother Board member sent me his OEM Panhard Bar for $10.80 shipping. When I mentioned I'D ordered a RH Lower Shock Mount from LMC Truck, he sent me his old OEM pair for another $10.80. [Now I have to deal with LMC's customer service for returning parts, but it is what it is.] First 2 items I got from a super nice guy in Casa Grande. He has 4 '67-'72 Chevy trucks, and a lot more parts. Found him on CL. The Diff and Grille I got from a local custom shop guy in Downtown Tucson who's way into Blazers. They were things he got a while ago, and were now in his way. Happy to let them go. Also a super nice guy. A lot of the big junkyards in Tucson found the land they were on was worth more than the used parts business. Brian

Re: Where have all the suburbans gone
I've had my '70 C10 waiting in my garage for about 13 years. All original (minus the primer) with 76k. Got her on the road this year with minimal work and new tires. Definitely turns heads when I take her out.

I suppose someone could drive by my place and see a '71 Jimmy, '68 Stepside, '67 Sub, '72 K/5, and a Fleetside trailer, and say the same thing about a weird guy in OV.

Re: Where have all the suburbans gone
So far all I can find are for pickup, and they won't fit the burb doors.

Re: Where have all the suburbans gone
Now thay I am looking at them, they may be the pickup ones that were bent to fit the back windows. It sits right on one side, but not the other.

Re: Where have all the suburbans gone
It does look like they have been made to fit . How do the front ones fit at the back of the glass ?

Re: Where have all the suburbans gone
I like your Unity Cop Spot. Didn't notice it in the first post. I have all the pieces for putting a spot in my '71 Jimmy, but need a Windshield Frame repair to the passenger corner, and wouldn't trust it without putting the rollbar back in.
K/5 bodies are convertibles and a further 1/2'' hole in the A Pillar doesn't help structural integrity.

Re: Where have all the suburbans gone
I got mine plus two more within about 2 miles of me. One rough looking beater, but it’s a driver. The other is a sweet lowered Burb. Haven’t caught the owners yet, but will someday.

Might be even cooler if the Driver's Side barn door opened to the bed.

You have to be careful if driving with the hatch up. A bump in the road could cause it to unlatch and slam down. And I have been idiot enough to get the flying hatch caught on a guywire across a cattle gate at a friend's ranch. Not once but twice. Same gate -- different trucks. First time, the '67 Suburban's hatch got a little tweaked. The second time, years later -- my Jimmy's fibreglass hatch caught it going forward, and spread hatch bits all over the desert. Had to shell out $400 for a new hatch from Brothers. And it was never as good a fit. I don't know if it would be an issue midway back, behind a crew cab, but an open hatch at the rear of the vehicle seems to suck in all the exhaust.

Re: Where have all the suburbans gone
Interesting, I dont hate it. Maybe something different for the back window though. A lot easier than doing the crew cab pick ups with a similar outcome.
