JC Whitney was my first thought too. How does your trailer tow? We can contact Don if there’s any issues . Hope you can show it alongside Joe’s

Re: The ‘Trans-American’ 1972 Cheyenne super Survivor - Thread
“Uh, okay
If that’s what you do in Kentuky” Sounds perfectly reasonable to me- KY folks must be a lot like IN people- a trusting bunch. When Eric and l left the show, he wanted to stop and buy a tire gauge to check his trailer pressures. As I pull up at O’Reillys, he said “Could we lock up? I’m leaving my phone in here” In a effort to show some midwestern hospitality and make him feel comfy, I obliged him (l probably would have left the keys in the ignition ). What could possibly go wrong while we’re in the store for a few minutes???

Re: The ‘Trans-American’ 1972 Cheyenne super Survivor - Thread
After all, the hood ornament is likely a 1940s Packard original hood ornament with the plastic wings broken off. I found one in a creek behind my Grandma's apt in the late 60s. Long gone. The wings were green or red.
Not out of the question that the old fellow who bought the truck new, may have been a Packard fan.

That definitely looks like the one that is on the truck
I popped the hood. Bingo, a red wire running from it All the way down through the firewall Guess it is time to go ‘hood ornament hunting’ |

Re: The ‘Trans-American’ 1972 Cheyenne super Survivor - Thread
I stumbled across Country Classics years ago when it looked like he just had cars that he’d dragged out of fields. He’s come a long way.
A Rokon Trailbreaker 2x2 motorcycle. Neat.

I see Country Classic Cars listings all the time. Is that the one that uses hot models?

Re: The ‘Trans-American’ 1972 Cheyenne super Survivor - Thread
I remember as a kid reading comic books and the ads towards the back almost always included the "Rokon Trailbreaker". Do you guys remember the "Super Bronc kit" for 295 bucks?. We couldn't afford either one, but it sure was nice to dream.

Re: The ‘Trans-American’ 1972 Cheyenne super Survivor - Thread
Those Rokons’s looked cool
But I’m guessing it was like riding a tank with 2 wheels Not very sporty ? In my excitement for this time capsule I didn’t really contemplate What am I going to do ? With all the holes That got drilled in it when it was new We can imagine what it will look like if I want to pull that hood ornament off As well as the below eyeline mirrors that got added |

Re: The ‘Trans-American’ 1972 Cheyenne super Survivor - Thread
You sure did. Right along the Mighty Mississippi. I've only been there at night in November, so had the place to ourselves.
The truck is one of those whatcha gonna do conundrums. It's a true survivor but the original owner made it his before preserving it so well. It's get those things off of there and have non-original paint or live with them. I wonder how well a scanner can match the shade of green and sheen. That first 67-72 I bought in '73 (Highlander) was like new, being only a year old. Hardly a survivor yet, but yet to have it's first scratch in the bed... or anywhere. First thing I did was go to the hubcap guy and trade the wheelcovers for '55 Chevy car hubcaps and put wide steelies on it. Not a permanent change and neither were the headers and dual exhaust I installed. If I hadn't been t-boned in it, which killed it, I had a Muncie M21 I was planning to swap in. And I didn't get a chance to have a tonneau cover made for it, as planned. back then you know what that meant, a zillion tiny wholes drilled for snaps along the bedside and tailgate. Damn people back then doing whatever they wanted with no regard for future collectors 50 years in the future!

My Step Dad was a Rokon dealer in Great Falls Montana, we used them to haul out our kills when hunting! They were probably the first "motorcycle" I ever rode!!!

I had a great evening with Eric yesterday. He left his truck and trailer at my place and we drove his new Super to dinner.
