Yeah, what's with Dodge and their tranny problems? Just about everybody that I have talked to that has owned more recent Dodges said they had tranny troubles.
When I used to work for the State of CT, they just got a bunch of Dodges from Fleet and had to return some of them for electrical repairs because they were just dying on them. That was right off the dealers lot too. How embarrassing for Dodge.

That will be one fly Pinto... Please, for safetys sake, just make sure you remove or replace the original rear bumper. Ford originally made them out of flint.

Guys, my last three daily drivers have been Dodges and I have yet to have a problem. The only problem that I have with the new one is the plastis crap coming off. I would like to get rid of the clad and have the aluminum polished--any ideas.

Thanks for the input . Some replies to the questions.

I also have the polished aluminum 20's on my new truck, not the plastic clad ones.

The new 5 speed auto is a very reliable , strong tranny - they learned from their lighter duty tranny mistakes. The tow/haul mode works very well, and their is a tranny cooler on this thing that is almost as big as the rad. The tranny in my new 03 Chev Venture van never made it 1,000 miles- All of the big three have had some tranny problems.

It is an extremely tight, very strong running unit, and the Hemi ( yes it does actually have aluminum hemi heads, 2 spark plugs per cylinder), is a formitable power plant, and runs circles around the 5.3 I tested in the GM.

Don't get me wrong, I am still a die hard 67-72 fan, but when I weighed all the options, I felt that the 1500 series Dodges were a better truck than the 04 Chevs.

nothing wrong with a dodge! i love the new rams

i think it would be extremely retarded to have plastic wheels? they have to be aluminum

Learned that the letters F O R D stand for "Fartin' Old Rebuilt Dodge". Rest assured that whenever your Dodge dies, it will come back as a Ford.

Proud you got what you wanted.

I wanted a Ram, couldn't afford the price, bought a Dakota and loved it. Rode great, got decent mileage, and was comfortable for me to drive long distances in (field service). The only reason I got rid of it was it didn't tow my boat very well. It had the 3.8L and just didn't have the balls to tow. I didn't have the boat when I bought the truck. I bought the boat because I had a truck to tow it with. I bought a Z-71 and it towed great, but was horride on mileage (I have a lead foot anyway). Got a new Liberty (42RFE) last Feb, and love it. It's not bad for a go kart. Tows way better than the Dakota, but not as well as the Z-71. This thing has some seriuos low end torque. More room for cargo (2 large dogs), and good mileage. I wanted a Ram this time too, but again, couldn't get what I wanted in a price I could afford. I will get one eventually though. I drove it, and really wanted it, but they just couldn't bring the price down far enough. Enjoy your Dodge. I buy whatever suits my needs. I did probably 3 weeks of research before I decided what car to get. It drives my wife nuts.

Bought my 2002 4x4 quad cab and I love it! Wish I would have waited and gotten the hemi(yes they do run like a striped a$$ ape) Say whatever you want about the hemi's but for a 5.7 liter engine they kick a$$. They are also quite a bit more reasonably priced than the Chevy's. Mine was around 7000 bucks cheaper than a Z-71 and came with a 360. Couldnt bring myself to buy a chevy because of the hideous front end on them either.

And say what you want about the torsion bar front suspension, it rides great and I havent had problem one with it yet.

RAM

I BOUGHT A 2003 1500 4X4 WITH THE 4.7 AND A 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION.iT IS A SHORT BED SPORT AND I LOVE THE THING.IT IS THE FIRST NON GM VEHICLE OTHER THAN A COUPLE OF JEEPS (BOWTIE POWERED) THAT I HAVE EVER OWNED.I PUT HEADERS AND TRUE DUAL EXHAUST ON IT AND FOR 297 CUBIC INCHES THIS THING REALLY PERFORMS WELL AND I AVERAGE RIGHT AROUND 18 MPG. I ONLY HAVE 22,000 MILES ON IT BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW,I WOULD BUY ANOTHER RAM .
