Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
Cracked my new plastic hood and bent the hood hinges. I am in Michigan, and drag racing season is about over for us

That's a total bummer.

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
Made it to the track yesterday. I'm not sure if it was just the weather, but the traction was not there. After pulling some pressure out of the tires, and some timing out of the motor, I was able to leave softly and run an 11.63 at 117. The online schedule shows that was the last Wendesday test and tune of the year, and the guy at tech was unsure if it is or not.
I am thinking a good upgrade for next year is some Caltracs. I am just not sure if they will help enough or if I should ladder bar it or 4 link it? Here is the best time slip from last week and this week. I know the reaction times are embarrassing. I waste the good reactions on crappy passes |

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
Cal tracks would be a good upgrade. Ladder bars would not be hard at all to build your own set if you have the ability. Helped a buddy put a set on his truck, pretty simple design and they worked wonders on axle wrap and wheel hop. If you can tame your rear end and get your 60ft time down you'll have something.

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
My best 60ft was 1.62, which I feel is good. I just want to get to were it can do that more consistently.
I have some work to do before the season opens up next year( and about 6 months to do it). Still looking for a 2wd short bed standard cab of this generation to build a real drag truck out of. |

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
Well that's some bad luck. I forget that there is a racing section here. I like drag race threads. I don't understand your numbers though. I have never seen a time slip/drag strip set up like that. I'm sure it's still fun just the same. I love the Chevy orange engine. I'll bet it will keep getting faster as you get it dialed in.

Well, new PB, but still cannot get it to 60ft. Need to work on f/r weight bias.

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
It looks like a 10 second time slip isn't far away. That thing is moovin out for a big ol truck.

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
Got a couple 10 second time slips today.
This is the new personal best. Switched from a 17x9 rear rim to a 15x10. Tires where of similar sizes. Going back to Milan tomorrow to watch Hot Rod Drag Week. |

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
I moved my battery to the back of the bed, installed a 33% bigger meth nozzle, and changed my Caltracs from half a turn preload to 2 turns of clearance. Also lowered the 2 step to 2000 RPM so it would stop pushing
First pass out went well. So decided to hit it harder. Pulled out the last 5 degrees of launch retard out and made a second pass. It went better. So now that it was hooking on full timing, I decided to add some total timing in. Went from .6 to .5 degree retard per psi of boost. So 1.3 degrees of advance. Started loosing the tire on the hit again, but picked up some mile per hour. |

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
Getting the itch, but winter is preventing me from even working on it. Signed up for a drag and drive event in August, so need to make this thing legit before then.

Threw it on scales today. Weighs 4580 lbs. Hopefully I can shave down on that this year.

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
I have some plans for it, but wanted to make a few passes to try out some other things I changed already. Track opening keeps getting delayed. IHRA bought it and is dumping a bunch of money into it.

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
I have started doing some work on the truck. Redid the front suspension and brakes Managed to lose about 200 Lbs. Still have a steering to install in place od the steering box and linkage. I have together cage done first though.

Re: Made my first pass down the strip.
You largely won that race at the light (i.e., .4491 delta) and your truck added to it (i.e., .0812)! Nice reaction time! Good luck and safe driving today!
