Re: Dragging home something very original today...
Sweet little 250 L6. SM420 probably.
40,425 original miles!?? WOW. Can't fathom why someone didn't run the hell out of that truck, long ago... I bought my '68 C/10 in 1973, and it already had almost 80K on the clock. But judging from the color and spartan features, I think it was originally a CalTrans supervisors' rig. Now it's turning 406,000.

That is super sweet!!
Do you think the inside of the bed is original paint? If it is, that’s amazing!

Re: Dragging home something very original today...
I believe the 'J' in the VIN indicates the factory? I'm not positive, maybe someone can chime in.

Re: Dragging home something very original today...
Here are some neat little original things...
Gas cap. I think these were painted body color from looking around at 1967 brochures. It certainly appears to be original paint. Do you agree? The floor mat is in excellent condition. This appears to be a GM part number. Definitely original belts. The doors were re-sprayed, but this mirror appears to have the original paint. Body color arms and black mirrors seems to be what I see in brochures? Let me know if that sounds right. Firewall chalk markings, I'm not an expert on these, but probably original?

Re: Dragging home something very original today...
This truck is PLAIN jane. Which I think is really cool.
Radio and cigar lighter deletes... Only 1 sunvisor??? I had not heard of that. Anyone know a second sunvisor was an option in 1967? EDIT: This photo looks like there are screw holes. Those are dimples. Not drilled through. No arm rests... I didn't know those were optional either. I have seen only one exterior rear view mirror, but this one has both. Seems odd to me. Curious what you guys have seen.

Re: Dragging home something very original today...
Here are a few questions about things I can't figure out. Let me know what you guys think...
Chalk marks on the core support. Are these original? Or from an oil change or something random later in life? I have never seen these. This air cleaner looks really clean. Too clean. Do you think this is NOS? Aftermarket? Restored? From a different model vehicle? I don't know much about air cleaners, or if the sticker is the right type. Uncoated hood hinges and hood latches. It almost looks like they were sand blasted. However, I do see some indications from other truck photos that maybe these parts were just not coated from the factory? What have you guys seen?

Re: Dragging home something very original today...
My 67 C30 has one visor and dimples on PS that are not drilled.
It also has no armrest. Your tailgate is probably a True 67 tailgate. They have the solid speedbump up the side. Nice Truck.

Re: Dragging home something very original today...
Lol I love how your first sneak peek picture is of just about the worst possible spot on these trucks as far as deterioration, you were right, it is a good indication of what the rest of the truck looks like.
Can't believe it's original and no rust repair. |

Re: Dragging home something very original today...
Core support marking looks like someone checked the coolant/antifreeze in November of 2003 and it was good to -40F. Which a little stronger than 50% antifreeze/50% water.

Re: Dragging home something very original today...
What a time capsule. great find. I'm glad you found it and appreciate it as it is and not just a body donor. Must have been kept in a garage all it's life. Probably w/o use for a long period due to death of owner or other such thing. I think the air cleaner is original and a great indicator, among all the others, of the authentic originality of the truck. IMO you got the best transmission for behind the 250. Great selection of options, minimal yet the few it has are key drivability/use elements...4spd, HD springs, P/S, and full foam

Right, we have a thread for vehicles like these. IMO, condition is everything. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...capsule+thread |
