Great project you've got going. What are you going to do with the C30 frame?

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
Hello
I am converting a 65 C30 to a C10 and I am having problems finding a heater core for the recirculating heater. The blower and heater core are located inside the cab. I have seen some info on this type of heater but every part I did find is for the heater located in the engine compartment. Does anyone have any info on the recirculating heater? Thank-you |

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
May 24th new front tires.
Last Saturday I got the rear wheels painted on back and primed on face, and the tires mounted. (Need to paint back of fronts and all wheel faces still)

Last Saturday and Sunday I got the engine resealed and painted also sand blasted and painted engine parts.
Painted the engine "283" grey. Going with semi gloss black contrast parts.

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
Yesterday was transport day...
Pulled front clip to make it easier for engine trans install and brake plumbing.

Nice work so far. What's your plan for pcv and oil fill on the engine?

Sweet, three pedals for the win. I always liked the 3 on the tree for a driver.

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
Looks great. I plan to do the grey with black pulleys, etc on my build too. What grey paint did you use? Looks a little lighter then others, but that could be the light. My camera never takes good pics of colors.

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
Update.
The heaters are so bulky on these trucks. Clean up firewall. Heater is not going back on. Will make block off plates eventually. Had to use my 59 to power the diesel pump to fill the hot water heater on the psi sprayer so I could clean more Chevy parts....the transmission for the 66.

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
Painted the bell housing same color as the engine. Painted the trans a charcoal hammer tone. Quick and easy.
Engine color is ford gray. In some pics it look lighter than it really is due to shop LED lights.

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
Is the Napa MC for a power brake application or manual? I thought the bigger pot was supposed to be in the front? I have been reading all I can regarding disc/drum non power set ups and have read many people using different MC. Just wondering which one is correct.

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
Larger pot is the front brake reservoir but it is the back one on the master, you just plumb the front brake line to it.

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
Correct. Disc brakes need more fluid than the drum brakes. That's how I remember it.

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
The new NEW intake showed up today. Excited to get it painted and installed...
After I decided last week to make the truck a three on the tree, I knew I had to order the Early style intake. In the past, I've had a motor that I had to pull the valve cover off to add oil not the end of the world, but I definitely think the breather on the intake adds to the vintage look.

Re: Back to the basics...My 1966 C30 to C10 project.
Are you going to drill the intake to install a pcv valve?
I like the look of the 283's, very clean.
