Supers were available in both 71 and 72. A 71 is rarer in relative terms as not any where near the number of units were sold as in 72. It's intersting to note that the "super" emblem on the glovebox is different in 71 than 72 as well. Other than that andthe obvious change in door panels, a 71 and a 72 super are identical in terms of interior amenities.

As for the power brakes, my '72 Super came with manual brakes.I have since changed over to power brakes . You can always pull the metal trim ring on the headliner and see if there are holes in the roof for the snaps for the ring. I believe (I could be wrong) that cheyennes had the headliner as part of the interior package, and others didn't. If the holes aren't there, it's not a true cheyenne, and the owner added it after the fact.
Someone please correct me if my facts are wrong.

Thanks. It's nice to get a fact right once in a while. I hate giving people bum scoop. There always seems to be some miniscule excetion to every rule I think I know. (Can you tell I'm frustrated with my College Algebra Homework? )

The head liner trim holes that he is referring to will include one for a regular screw in each corner and the middle of front, back, and each side (I think anyway) and would be very easy to drill. The other holes are oval shaped, about 3/8" x 3/4" and would be very hard to cut in and have it look like a factory stamp. The trim usually breaks if you try to pull it out of the oval holes so be carefull if you start looking there. If it has the factory oval holes, it is at least a Cheyenne, but doesn't guarantee a Cheyenne Super.
