Sorry, but I did start with a very valid opinion about "rear" disc brakes.Even though our trucks have little weight on rear,I can't stress enough how much rear disc brakes help.

Another question for rin68 and 383 stroker, could you still use 15" rims or did you have to move up to 16" rims for clearance.

They clear 15" ralley wheels.

haven't tried 15" on mine, went to 17s when the conversion was done. seat of the pants judgement says 16" would be no problem, but 15" would depend on the wheel. you may want to contact steeltech soulutions in marion, IL. they make the bracket.

Here's the details for the many who have PM'd me.

Calipers are front GM metric (78-87 A/G Body, standard 82-92 Camaro) , $21 each

Rotors are 77-78 Caddy Sedan deVille, $60 each. These rotors require the axle flange to be turned down, any machine shop should be able to do this. I did this on a co-workers lathe.

Bracket is from Steeltech Solutions in Marion, IL They sell on ebay for around $80. This bracket can use a emergency brake caliper from certain Caddys and Camaros but I don't remember what off hand. This bracket wouldn't be all that difficult to fabricate for someone with the right equipment.

I'm using the Classic Performance disc/disc master cylinder/booster/proportioning valve, $399. There is probably a cheaper way to get this done, but I was rebuilding all the brakes/suspension and this setup saved some extra work. All brake lines are new steel or braided stainless/AN fittings. Front brakes are stock 71-72 GM 1/2 ton truck components

I've only got about 50 miles on this system (winter interfered) but it has been performing well. After some more driving I may go with a adjustable prop valve to tune the system.
