POR-15
I have not painted my frame yet but I am going POR-15
I used to do maint. on the semis at work before I became dissabled, we shiped roof truses on roller trailers these trailers had a simple air brake system on the rollers consisting of a air chamber diaphram and piston air is applied to diaphram pushing piston out, anyway when these trailers were about one year old when the breaks started going bad there were about 20 of these brakes I started taking them apart the air chamber was packed with rust I cleaned them up and the GM had delt with POR-15 before and gave me a couple pints of it and told me to try coating the inside of chamber I did and 4 years later they still were working good when I changed diaphrams they were were clean no rust inside at all I think this proves POR-15 realy workes and I don't have a lot of money eather, but the time and money invested into my truck if it cost me a little more to protect the bottom I am going with what I know works (JUST MY OPINION ) Thanks for listening EMMETT (lol) |

I can't speak on Rust Bullet, it may be great, but i just painted my frame with POR-15 and am well pleased with how it flowed with a brush-almost like glass. Seems very hard when dry, too. They're not kidding about getting it on you--if you don't clean with lacquer thinner RIGHT away, you're going to wear it for a week or so---- BTW--a quart will just cover a shortbed frame.

I've use POR15 with good results. I thin mine with their thinner and spray it on. You get a even better look when you spray it on. But I warn you do not get it on you! I ruined one pair of contact lenses....lol

Well today I ordered Rust Encapsulator for the back frame and underside of the bed. I received lots of good feedback to what Rust Inhibitor to use but after all the info and lots of reading I have decided to go with Eastwood. Although this is as expensive as POR 15 I did get 10% discount from Eastwood and it seems to be a lttle less work to get the metal prepared. Thanks for all you great feedback as it gave me lots of options and ideas on how to reach a conclusion on what to purchase.
Two weeks and the bed project will start. Let the fun begin!! |

I think so- I've only done the underside of 1 cab so far-and I put black undercoating over that-haven't looked at it recently so...
I will say that it's VERY tough stuff-and cheap enough to experiment with so try it out
