I was thinking of a similar idea... I might have some tabs welded to the windshield frame that I can build a light mount bar for...

Yes Sir, those are what I am looking for! If I can't find any, I may talk to my friend John at CHAOS offroad about fabbing me up a pair. Good idea bro! Anybody else got pic's of lights mounted up there?

I'll be the first, forum rules apply here. Any chance you can find a mate? Let me know price and we go from there. I really need two, but will take your one if price is right, thank's, Bryan.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

I pride myself in my online searching skills. But I tried every possible way to find these brackets and got no luck. Depending on how much your heart is set might be easier and cheaper to just get some L brackets and mount some generic ones or ones from LMC or the other common sites.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Thank's for looking Flick! I think I will end up going custom on this. I did drive the K5 some this weekend and everything worked good. Brakes felt good, steering worked great-way better with the crossover/high steer! Still have some issues with the battery/charging system, and the QJ carb. Chasing down a couple of small fluid leaks, but all in all feel real good with getting this step done!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Yes! I talked to John today, after he got back from Trucks Gone Wild last weekend. Bus and jeep survived the trip, with a little carnige to the bus's rear driveshaft. All good! Got my headlights to work-after I hooked up my dimmer switch-Duh! Also got my new taillight housing from LMC today, so will wire that up tommorrow and should have all my outside lighting back again!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Still trying to figure out the taillights. Got a new flasher for the fuse box, but did not fix. Wiring mess! Did get the headlight bezels repainted and installed in the 72 grille. Got some pic's ! Oh, Got the rear top brackets bolted back in, with antisieze! Those rear top bolts are a real pain in the you know what! I had to cut my top up to get it apart in the first place, but am making it easier every time I work on it! Pic's of the front end-with some shackles mounted on the d-rings. Pic's of my rear shackle flip, and my frame-to new rear bumper bracket plates! yes!Name: 100_0469.JPG

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Went to Rocks and Valleys Off Road park today. One of my daughters boyfriend wanted to take us there. Jeep broke the front driveshaft about 20 minutes in, wheeled in rear wheel drive for about 10 minutes, broke that, and ending up leaving it in the parking lot until he can find a trailer to drag it home! I love my GM trucks!Name: 100_0480.jpg

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

To fix the hatches, dismantle, split the halves (inside and outside), get a fiberglass repair kit, some wood shims, and start patching. Clean out the cracked and broken areas. Use the wood as a backer and to add some strength. Lay your glass in and coat with the resin. Repeat until built up, repaired, patched, what have you. Clean around the edges again and paint them with resin, have a bunch of clamps and wood boards handy to clamp the halves together again (sandwich the hatch between the boards) Sand and spray a coat of textured paint. Fiberglass is easier to mess with than rusty steel repairs. Mistakes just cut out or sand out. No biggie.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Looks like I have got my transfer case/transmission leaks down to just some slight seepage. Good enough for now, until I pull it all again to swap in the 383 and a new flywheel and clutch. Yahh!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Every picture of 1 ton 14 bolt corp rear axle swaps show the rear driveshaft with the slip yoke down by the rear axle. When John custom built my new rear shaft, he put the slip yoke up by the transfer case. He say's it puts the yoke up out of the mud and etc better. Any thought's guy's?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

I heard great things about Toyo Open Country MT... So much so I bought some 35x12.5x18s for my K5... But I haven't got them on the road yet... My friend had a set on his crew cab diesel Dodge and got good results and he was tearing through the desert with them...

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Thank's mcmlxix! I checked out TOYO's site, and they do make a tire in that same size, but am still leaning toward the NITTO trail grapplers. Planning on going with B.A.D 17X10 wheels. Both tire companies have this rubber in load range C, which is fine for my app. Need to order 5 new tire and 5 new wheels to fix this 1 ton upgrade setup! These 31" P265/75/R16" tires just are not right on my K5! 5 tires=about$2500.00--5 new wheels=about $2000.00--ouch! Anybody got pic's of some new 39" or bigger rubber on thier K5? Hello--overtime at work!

I found a set of Hummer H2 Wheels for a cheap stand in .... They're cheap around here and usually come with 315/70/17 BFGs... I think that about a 34" tire...

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Nothing new here, just working more overtime to add to funds. Did go up and check out a jeep at CHAOS offroad. John just put a dana60 in the front with crossover steering and some custom spring mounts, looks pretty good! Guy was already running a 14blt rear, so now it's set up! Still wanting those Nitto trail grapplers in 40x13.50R17lt! Just keep saving, I guess!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Too much snow and cold here to work in the pole barn. Playing with some old pic's of my custom front bumper build. Pic's of the bumper I ordered, the bumper as I recieved it, and how it turned out when John at CHAOS off road was finished with it. Very happy with the way it looks! Start on the rear custom fab for the rear bumper come spring!Name: WiChevy72Pu.jpg

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!

Sun came out here and inspired me to get outside. Got some pic's of my young g-shepard begging me to go out and move some snow. Went out and installed my new transfer case skidplate I got recently from board member 72ironmike. It worked out perfectly, and I really like it better than the stock skidplate with the extra crossmember--YAAA!Name: 100_0508.jpg
