Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

lol...its like a disease. i think im already planning on my next build lol

my "plan" is actually gloss black...i think i will do my own body work but im scared as hell. i actually thought of painting it red with black interior...but i cant get away from this black. it would just look too cool to avoid.

little update, i finally got the hatch/gate jambs primed. i really didnt feel like getting it done because of all the sanding and contours, but i really needed to! ill get some pics up tomorrow, its too dark to get a pic of..

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

btw. where did you get the lower section for right behind the 3rd door? I am looking for that lower section of the wheel arch on both sides, but can't find aftermarket replacements anywhere. and i tried to make my own, but those little body lines through the wheel arch are impossible to recreate w/out bead rollers and a shrinker/stretcher

i think i got it from classic heartbeat..but i bought the truck replacement and for some reason it didnt come with the body lines around the arch (which i knew when i ordered it). i bought the correct one on the other side and i think it came out great..def should have went that route on the driver side but it was my first patch panel ever! live and you learn i guess...

not a whole lot really, i did get the rear tailgate jamb sanded and primed, and replaced the third door rocker finally. still have to finish up some spot welds and splicing welds, then shoot a coat of primer on it. maybe some pics come weekend but its gonna look pretty much the same lol.

trying to figure out what direction i should go with now..i have a couple of extra bucks to put in it, wondering if i should get the high build primer and finish up the firewall and inner fenders (paint)...and start the dreaded body work!

Sweet. Thanks, they've got exactly what I've been searching for, now to scrounge up the necessary funds to purchase both sides. lol

lol...too funny. i actually have a few that made me feel like i have actually done something lol

i scuffed up the firewall and shot some shopline high build primer on it...2 coats overall and 3 coats on the main section of the firewall. i do have some nicks i didnt catch when i did the body work but oh well, i think it should still turn out nice. now im thinking why in the hell did i buy one stage paint for this..after all this work. but im still gonna use it.........

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

glad im past that! man it was a lot of work to shave up the holes and shaved the heater box...but was def worth it. cant wait to see some paint on it now, but im thinking of switching up colors again lol

i already have single stage black, but im not sure if i want to do black. i mean i do, but im not real confident in my body work to shoot the entire truck black...

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

If you don't think the body work is good enough, just keep at it. I know black shows everything, but if the body work is bad, it will be bad with any color.

Blocking and priming isn't that expensive, it's just an ass load of work. I think you've done a great job up to this point and I'd hate to see the end result be compromised after all the effort you've already invested.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

updates coming soon!

i just shot one coat of the valspar tractor one stage on the firewall...noticed some solvent pop in it, hopefully they go away after the next 2 coats. its tough getting this paint to thin out right...

mixed 250ml with just a dab of hardener, then im assuming i thinned it by nearly 15-20% with fast dry thinnner....should have some pics up tonight if i have enough light out.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

That looks great, I hope it flows out for ya. Surely someone will chime in on the paint issue. I think it could be sanded and buffed out personally, but what do I know??!?!

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

whats up!?

i actually sanded down the paint off the firewall, i just couldnt leave it like that. i know a lot of people dont even notice the firewall, but i didnt want to leave it with thos contamination spots everywhere. pics comin by the end of the week, i already got it wetsanded with 400, hoping to reshoot in the next few days.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

ok, reshot it monday, and this is how it turned out. the craters are still there, but from before. there was no contamination this time, but the craters were pretty deep and the 2 coats i shot on did not cover them completely. kinda sucks...it looks a lot better person than these pics, but you can see them either way. im thinking either wetsand with 1500, then 2000 and buff. or..scuff and shoot a few more coats.

im not going to sand down and fill them with filler, there is just too many...

heres some pics..
