It could be pretty trick to do something like this, but like XXL mentioned, moisture is the enemy! The inside of the frame rails could be coated and sealed to prevent any moisture from damaging the integrity of the frame rails.

There will be a C4 version available shortly. The previous pics are for the straight axle version. The differences between the two variations are: the C4 back-half will not kick up as high as the straight axle version, the locating links will be a bit different, and the air suspension will be set-up with a rocker-arm and push-rod assembly on the C4 version.

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

Any new pics of the rear setup? What type of bag setup will it be? Does a 4 link setup work better or ride any better than a 2 link? Any idea how much?
Also started working on my dropmember install, I never got instructions so I used the Classic Trucks tech article! Any word on my rack? Rack notches- Heims? Thanks for all your help Nathan!

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

Nathan,

Thanks for the response on the rack. Any idea how much the rear setup will be? Where will the bags be located in relation to the rearend? Over the axle or cantilever? And will it be bolt in or weld in? Did you see your tailgate for the burb in my pic? You still want that right? Also do you have a short fleetside bed that maybe I could partly trade the tailgate-hatch for?

Those frame rails look like the could lay on some mudder tires. The bed will need some serious fab work to cover that up. How much bed depth will be left?

I don't have a price nailed down on the back-half, but it will be at or near the $2K mark. This particular one will be running shockwaves... on the convential bag set-up, it will be a bag over axle with the tapered sleeve style bags.

I still want the gate... don't have a shorty fleetside bed that I can part with.

It will only need some slight clearance work to your tonneau cover! I will have one all mocked up in a chassis this weekend and will throw a bed-side up to get some measurements.

It is set-up to have the bottom of the frame-rail (on the back-half) 17" inches from the ground at dump (that's with the framerails under the cab on the ground). That will allow up to a 31" tall tire... 22's with sidewall or a 24?.

I can make em with less depth... for those who don't want it quite so extreme.

I don't think so. How far below the framerails do the long tube headers set on a stock crossmember?

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

The Big Block mounts are done. I shipped the first Dropmember BBC combo out this week. The motor mount tabs for the BBC set up 3/4" higher than the SBC and the mounts themselves are all the same. I am yet to mock it all up in a cab to see exactly where the fit issues lie. I am assuming some slight mods to trans tunnel where it meets the firewall will be needed (maybe 1/2" of clearance trimming) it might fit without slight trimming, but I am uncertain yet.

The sqeaky wheel gets the grease! BTW, didn't you get me all excited about selling you one of these and then never get back with me?

I just haven't heard back from the Unisteer guy... looks like I need to call him Monday!

I'll tell my brother you send your regards! I've been repaid in full.

If I thought I could get one soon enough.... I heard there will be a dropmember & back-half picked-up soon for a TX delivery. You could just throw my stuff under his .

Kill-joy.
I thought I was getting my info from a half-way (or was that half-a** ?) reliable source. Thing about those freight services is they add to the cost . . .....

There should be no hood clearance issues with this combo. You will however need to ditch the truck oil pan and get an F-body pan and pick-up tube.

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

Nathan,

What are my options as far as control arms? Should I order Djm's and have you modify or do you have another solution? The tire I want is a 285-35-22 which I beleive is close to 30"

thanks
