Let's add another fact in the equation of why I use rattle cans..My professional painter friends tell me the average cost to load a paint gun is about 60.00 That includes cost of materials going in, consumable cups, and clean out materials. Consider that there is no wasted material in a spray can and you can see the economics are heavily in favor of good old rattle cans.

Thanks. They pay tribute to the American Racing Vector as well as many others from that era but they are available in contemporary sizes.

Re: "Crewcab Jake" the 84 to 74 conversion
Of course I had to unbox one and take it. I wanted to show it to my wife so I put it on display where she could get a good look.
She likes the wheel but didn't really appreciate where I set it for the pic.

Looks good! So are you taking it to LST in flat black, but doing another paint job later on down the road?

Re: "Crewcab Jake" the 84 to 74 conversion
It will be at LST in Tamco K2 sealer. Its a semi gloss finish similar to E coat. Once this show is over we will start prepping each panel for proper fitment. When the fitment is refined everything will be spray with a high build epoxy primer, then blocked till flat. Then it will be sealed again, and the top coat process will begin.

Re: "Crewcab Jake" the 84 to 74 conversion
Last night Chris worked on unpacking and assembling the TMI seats. I decided I wanted a retro look with a more contemporary color. I feel this will give a soothing effect that wont go out of style.
We are using a full width base to mount the front buckets on. That gives me a stable base to position the cup holder console a bit higher than factory. It can actually be used as an armrest as well as storage.

Re: "Crewcab Jake" the 84 to 74 conversion
This morning Chris delivered the new wheels to Discount Tire then went to work. This evening he got to the shop early so he wrapped up the seat install and moved on to the taillights. The set that I ordered didnt come with the bulb housing like it was supposed to. He refurbished an old set and installed the new lenses on them

Re: "Crewcab Jake" the 84 to 74 conversion
Chris finished the taillights and moved back inside the cab. He spent the evening assembling the freshly painted dash. It's a tedious job and fortunately he has the patience to tackle the task.

Re: "Crewcab Jake" the 84 to 74 conversion
While he worked on the dash I focused on the front clip. The new bumper brackets from Brothers Truck Parts made a huge difference. The bumper actually looked like it belongs on the truck now.
I adjusted the bumper then installed the new grill molding. I left it loose then put the headlight buckets in place. I fine tuned the alignment as best as possible and tightened it down. The final piece was the new park light assemblies from Brothers. Yeah I know it looks sorta like another truck I once had.

Ken, What did you decide on for tire sizes? What were the final wheel widths?
