then I removed the four way aftermarket heater switch with the flux capcitor attached to it

then I gently pried the last heater associated button until I broke it, not knowing it simply unscrewed - my bad, I thought it was stuck to the caked on primer and such

then I put the uninstallation on pause while I made a fat stubby wierd looking screw driver thingie for the heater core screws, (thank you Harbor Freight for making a defective large flat screw driver)...

Not many people know this but Clive the inventor of said screws went on to invent the BetaMax a consumer-level analog-recording and cassette format of magnetic tape for video now obsolete, having lost the videotape format war to VHS

did I mention I got stung 17 times on the day I went to buy the truck

I luv working on trucks because the tailgate easily becomes a work bench, but then with this one, you get three benches

when you work under the hood the front fenders are nice tool (and drink) holders too

That old heater box is really cool. They even put a logo on it. Not sure what you could use it for but there's got to be something.

I know right, I need one of them fender table cloth protector thingies, or two, one for each side

so I spent the better part of today afternoon chasing Gremlins on my '74 post LS Swap digital speedo and tach gauge nonsense and I think I finally got it figured out, basically these two stupid gauges do not like using sharing grounds and want their own

in '54 news, I discovertized based on the numeros 5952467 on my steering column that I have a 59-60 truck \ Impala steering column (and I love it so simple, NO TLIT, NO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTER, NO STUPID, STUPID BANANA CLIP OF TURN SIGNAL WIRING NIGHTMARES) hugs!

I don't recon this base plate is for the '54 and most likely came with the 59-60 truck\Impala column, if someone with more experience is reading this, I would appreciate your comment

did I mention I love this simple steering column, especially this mechanical cable operated turn signal/brake switch, it's rad!

things were so simple back then and made sense, a simpler time for sure!!!

Truth be told, I was a little horrified by the story of your trip to AutoZone. You can kind of give the kid a little break from the standpoint that people probably buy vacuum hose and chop it up into pieces. But the idea that you can hand somebody a 2 ft. piece of hose in order to get them from the 18 you cut, to the 20 that they need, is frightening in its simplicity. It reminds me of a Steven Wright joke that will lose much in not being delivered by him. It goes something like this. "I was going to the convenience store and when I walked up, the clerk was changing the sign to closed. Through the glass I yelled 'it says you're open 24 hours'. And he yelled back 'yeah, but not in a row'.

You've been making all kinds of progress on Busty / Honey (with a name like that I'm starting to wonder if I'm on the right website ;) . I like watching your resourcefulness and I'm amazed what you get away with considering that you live in a very nice neighborhood. A question. Not trying to be(e) a smart *, but why didn't you vacuum up those bees when you were vacuuming up behind the gauges? Or are we looking at pictures from two different times? I think I remember you mentioning that you got stung but I didn't realize it was 17 times. That probably would have done me in. I'm low-level allergic and it gets a little worse each time even with a single sting. 17 probably would have been my last ride. I'm excited for you to get the truck running and driving and I hope you can do it by your birthday. What is your long-term vision for the truck, its use, etc.?

Those sneaky devils were wedged behind this trim peace, difficult to see since everything on this truck is 50 shades of gray.

decided to finally paint the rear shock crossmember, I've been putting it off cause although it is bolted in, it don't come out, poor engineering on my behalf

did I mention The Greg does not like overspray

and before the wife even noticed her missing aluminum foil we were Rust-Oleuming all over da place

then I removed the weather striping from the driver side door, I also put this off for a little bit

I think only one screw came out of the base molding on this side, the rest had to be gently persuaded with the cut off wheel

here I am getting all the rust off, it's looking better

then I did my second stupid thing of this build (stripping the crank pulley bolt being the first) I started to yank out the rubber weather striping with the metal channel on the passenger side door frame - before stopping to ask for advice

then I removed the weather striping from the driver side door frame the proper way, made a huge mess, but I cleaned it up

[Kenny I'm looking at your for a new used replacement weather striping channel! ha ha]

I even yanked off the door sills on the account of them holding the very ends of the weather striping - and found them to be in good nick

thinking about stripping these down to bare metal also and going for that brushed steel look
