Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good K/5
Thanks, Scot! Doing my best to keep it all below the trim line--driver door will need some blending due to the surface rust behind the molding. Definitely not getting into a full repaint at this point.
...and with these last two corners of the driver door complete, the rust is gone! Time to start slinging some mud...

Progress: I POR-ed the inside of the doors (not pic worthy) and the rocker box end caps (didn't get a pic), but I did get a picture of some shiny blue paint Couldn't help myself. The bed was very near ready, so I sanded, primed, prepped, masked, and laid some color. The match seems to be very good, though daylight will tell the true story.

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good K/5
Acrylic enamel. Far from optimal, but if it was perfect, the rest of the truck would look bad...

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good K/5
Can't believe dealers would drill holes in your new truck back in the day, at least now they just use a license plate surround
nice work on the spot fixes blends well how was the fresh air box, much crap in there?

Where did you get the patch panels? from what I can see everything seemed to fit really well.

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good K/5
Nothing was a "bolt-on". Some parts were better than others. Just a lot of cutting, bending, shaping, hammering, tweaking to get it all lined up and looking good. I'm a little particular about things sometimes
Lower fenders/quarters were a remote resemblance if the stock shapes. Rear bed floor piece was nice--better than gm in some ways. Rockers were pretty good, but needed some slicing here and there for a good fit. Driver was a better shape than passenger. Still some minor alignment issues at the rocker/quarter. Kick panel fit well. In review of others work, these are pretty common issues. Just thankful to have parts available and not have to create them from scratch.
