I have (what looks like maybe?) the same water neck as Keith has .. he just may have painted his (?) I have the 15 deg Billet Specialties on mine. they make a 0 45 and 90 too but what's pretty nifty is the base and the neck part are two pieces. The neck will swivel so you can adjust it for just the right turn to match the hose. I have just a GM Big Block hose on mine too and it takes a pretty low profile shape.

Hey Brian, sweet project and am learning a lot from it.
scratching the firewall must have hurt..i know from experience..just airbrushed a tank for my bike and dropped it!!

Brian The truck is coming along great.Can't wait to see it . I usualy take a old piece of brake line or wire and form it to the shape you need.Then go to the parts store and explain what you are trying to do and see if they will let you look at the hoses in stock and find one that will work.Keep in mind you can cut off one or both ends and the closer to level you keep that hose the better to get all the air out of the cooling system.

Brian, just so you know and I acknowledge for clarification your truck is one of my favorites on the whole board. I don't want my comment about the upper hose to sound any differently than I intended .. I look at your build just about every day.

It is an awesome truck and if mine turns out half as good I will be super stoked. I was just thinking a high point in the coolant system can sometimes spell trouble .. didn't mean to step on your toes if I did. Your truck is incredible man.. really. Just constructive opinion is all. ..

Keep at it, you're doing awesome.

Thanks man!! That's pretty inspiring to hear. I really appreciate you bringing that up because now I have some good ideas on how to fix it. Believe me I love to hear comments on my truck....good or bad. So you haven't hurt my feelings.

if you have time could you let me know how much room is behind your valve cover (between the end of the valve cover and the firewall) i mounted my breathers to the back of my valve covers...but after looking at your pictures i am worried i dont have room for these !

The valve covers I have are the TALL ones... I had to get tall to clear the roller rockers. (so I was told) I would have a lot more clearance if I didnt get the tall ones. I can take a few more pics and a measurement tonight.

With your roller valve train, tall is necessary, I had my short covers from before my rebuild and they were not even close to fitting when I converted to roller rockers.

So excited.... I finally get a tach!!! Ordered this bad boy today!!! Got it with the Gear Shift indicator and the Dimmer knob.

My three favorite things on the truck so far.... My new 383 stroker, my Porterbuilt suspension and my Dakota Digital Dash. OH YEA!!

Yes it is steep... But I was about to drop some cash on new gauges for tach, temp, oil, fuel pressure, and my new odometer will read zero miles... Just like my new motor

True and knowing that you actually know what is going on with the motor etc instead of depending on 40 year old gauges that may be temperamental is well worth it. Im looking at Autometers for mine since I scored a billet bezel for cheap but this is still tempting. Price would be about the same in the end I think. I have a Dakota Digital cluster on my Harley and as long as you keep it dry it works great. Get it wet even once (like getting caught in a rainstorm or at the carwash) and it blanks out for several days and erases everything and you have to start back over but this should not be a problem in a truck or else you have bigger problems than just the gauges!!! Haha

I actually got out and drove the truck yesterday to the gas station... I was able to get her out on the highway and O...M...G... the power. This new 383 is crazy. I had no idea it would take off that fast. I loooove that low end torque. I think I burned the tires down all the way to 3rd gear LOL. Hopefully I will tighty some things up tomorrow so I can drive her to our local car show on Sunday (called "Caffeine and Octane") and I can post some videos up.
