I like shiney! Looks expensive. Someone might want to steal it if I start putting stuff like that on it! They might think I have alot of money invested in it or something.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

No pics but I did finally get the driveshaft cut, balanced, new joints in it and installed. Hoping to get the bed on this weekend so I can start thinking about the exhaust. Hard to think about going out there with a 113 degree heat index.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

OK fellas, my lovely wife decided we needed to work on the truck after our little one went to bed so off we went. (luckiest man in the world by the way!)
Broke out the engine hoist and a large ratchet strap and got the bed put back on. I dont remember it sitting this high in the rear so I will see how it settles after it's all done and adjust from there. Wish I had bought those adjustable drop shackles from Bigarmzz now! Thats ok, I will remove a couple leaves, install the c-notch and add the shackles if needed later. I decided not to install the c-notch at the house because I am soooo anal about the cut being perfect for the notch to sit in I will lift the bed and cut it out with the plasma at the shop later. Heres a couple pics.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

Went out this morning and got the retaining straps for the driveshaft and got them installed. Bolted the bed down for the last time, installed steering shaft, trans shifter linkage, A/C compressor, battery cables, and a couple other loose odds and ends. Also took a couple better pics with natural lighting.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

...yes these TX summers have me thinking my dream shop (we're looking to sell our home and move to the country before long) needs to have its own HVAC...just so IT can become the man cave.

I'm thinking a small 300-350sq ft. apt. in a corner might not be a bad idea...that way if she gets mad at me and says something to the effect of "and don't even bother trying to come to bed tonight"... I'll already have a backup plan.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

Sounds like a good plan. I am hoping to finish our refinance soon and start plans for a shop at home. I am thinking maybe a 24' x 30' with 16 foot ceilings so I can put a lift in there and get some more side work going again. Gotta finance these trucks somehow...

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

^^^Amen!!!

After working on my '76 Blazer in the gravel back driveway, I am going to start back on my Man Building as soon as I graduate from college (mid-life redirection ) and get a job in my new profession. I have already cleared the lot that it will be going on, just have to build the retaining wall and backfill the outer edge on one side. It's going to be 30x50 w/ a 10' wide lean to down one 50' side to park the boat and camper under during the winter, and a loft over half of it for storage and possible apt. And, HVAC for sure!

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

Saweet!!! It's looking like a truck again!

Now, hit Craigslist or go to Sears and buy 1 or 2 110v window AC units. I have 1 in mine (mounted in the wall thought), and along with a couple of fans, it's veeery comfy in there, even on the hottest days, and my shop is 1200 sq/ft. I'm on the lookout for a couple more though. Can never have it too cool! I found mine at Sears, it was the largest 110v unit they had at the time, and it was a "last years model", so I got it for $100!

I have one in my shop. It's nice until you open the doors. Then it takes a while to cool off again. Nice progress Josh. It will be together in no time.
