Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
The price on it is pretty nice too....compared to 2500-3K for the rest of the options...

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
You know when someone says "dont count your chickens till the hatch" is for a reason. Turns out that the fellow that was going to buy my Coys tells me this morning that he is not ready to buy them yet as there are several issues in his truck that he wants to have fix before he buys expensive wheels. I agree with him but what is funny is that i told him before to get the truck mechanically sound and ready then worry about wheels but he insisted that he wanted mine, good thing I did not order new wheels because i would be stuck with a 3,500 dollars set of wheels which is money that I can spend on my big brake kit or to buy other things I want to upgrade on.

The few things that I want to do are as follow: * Complete big brake kit * Autometer Gauges with a stock looking bezel * Considering installing air ride on it The first two I am doing for sure the third is in the back burner will see. I am quietly observing that build from porterbuilt "AUX" and I am getting the itch to do something like that but it is hard for me to pull the trigger on a perfectly finished truck so this takes me back to the 68 SWB that I would like to do that to instead. There is a 72 about three miles from my house that has been there for years it is a SWB two-tone but I can only see the back and the sides I can see the body side moldings and tail gate and by it's appearance I am sure it is a 72. I could buy a truck like this and convert it to a 68 since I am not a purist . I have got to get the nerve to knock on the people's door to see if they would want to sell it. It is a truck that needs work so I would feel alot better to start from scratch on it and do a major overhaul on it even if it takes me a year or so. I have been searching for a finished truck but the ones i seen it is almost better for me to buy a project instead even though I really dont have the time (This is why I say it will take me a year) some people's definition of perfect does not ressemble mine. there are some trucks in here that I would love to own I can think of three right of the top of my head that if they were for sale I would be all over them which is why I have been sitting back just watching specially since I already have mine finished I have plenty of time to decide. I am also giving time to my guy here at work that bought that 68 not too long ago because I think that it may end up with me as I dont think at the pace he is going he will ever get it finished.

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

I say go knock on their door man! The worst they can do is say no and they will probably take it as a compliment that someone would want to buy their truck. I'd like to see you do another one anyway instead of buying one that's finished. |

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
Hey Big Al,
Your truck turned out great. But my question is how did you hide all your wiring? I want to do the same thing to mine once I get to that point and hide all the plumbing of the A/C like you did. Do you have any pictures on the routing of your plumbing and wiring that are hidden? Thanks for sharing.

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
They actually did make some big window cabs in 67 but 67 is the only year for the small windows.

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
And the 67 big window is a little more rare since they started doing it late in production....

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
Thank you!!!
Heath I have not ran a speedo cable as I am in the process of replacing my gauges to autometers and I am going to use an electronic speed sensor and not have to run an actual speedo cable. Just run regular electrical wire and it will be ran very stealthy once it gets done I will be posting picts of it.

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
ok cool , thanks for the update. I am thinking of autometers as well, because it will be easier than trying to rewire for the original. let me know if you find any deals on the gauges.
I may bounce some ideas and questions off of you when i start to run the wiring.....
