Re: post up your camping pics
this waterfall took a chunk of the road
'nother waterfall eating the road there's only one nice spot you can get to the lake & there were some jeepers camped there, so me & dawg went here, which is not as scenic.... |

Re: post up your camping pics
could'nt get the "famous" foley shot, the ground around the lake was about a foot deep swamp...
foley creek leaving the lake with people around, me and dawg headed over to Airplane creek. these mountains can be deadly to planes. just a few weeks before WW2 ended, a RCAF B-24 crashed into the back of Welch Mountain. all on board were killed. two of the engines were found in a creek, which was named Airplane creek it's also the way to Baby Munday mountain... |

Re: post up your camping pics
this is a memorial they made for the aircrew, the orig. one in the woods was destroyed by mother nature. there is part of one of the B-24 engines mounted there
some paint job hills, and these ones were only hub deep |

Re: post up your camping pics
woke up this mornin', dawg seemed more depressed than usual. he's been like that since Dixie-lou passed away, then 3 months ago, the wife's rat dog Spike died, so Diesel is on his own now...so i skipped work today and took dawg up to the Nahatlatch fire lookout. i needed to get out just as much as he does...
first time seen this kicking around, had to turn around and look again... the usual, Hunter creek pit stop for dawg. that 28 days of rain last month did a number on the local creeks. Hunter came up high enough to lift this picnic table (guessin'4-500 lbs, it's concrete) off it's base and relocate it about 50 feet into the forest |

Re: post up your camping pics
had a couple "slidy" moments, nice thing bout the clouds, cant see the edge coming..
but we made it to the top of the mountain. prob be the last vehicle for awhile, rain for the next 10 days which prob means a couple more ft of snow up here. unfortunatley the clouds wiped out the million dollar view today....from the top of the lookout |

Re: post up your camping pics
Absolutely awesome views! Thanks for all the pics. Makes me jealous. Now that I think about it, why do you tease us like this? I don't have to put up with this.

Re: post up your camping pics
How recent are these pics? Any snow there yet? If I remember you are just north of me in BC. This has been a very mild starting winter out west. Last year at this time I was half way to my knees in snow logging and 30 below. November was the coldest month of the winter here.

Re: post up your camping pics
welp, been putting some big miles on the stepper this week.
went up to my dad's place in Falkland, 'bout 250 miles each way, a 3 to 3 1/2 drive by hiway....but i hate the highway- too boring. i take a shortcut threw Douglas lake ranch, 'bout 40 miles shorter each way, but takes longer- around 5 hrs. not because it's a knarly rd, but because it has MAJOR washboard 90% of the way. even with IFS i was 1st or 2nd gear all the way, any faster and the truck would start skittering sideways. desolate place, dont really want to break down there... went to help my dad work on his retirement home, mite need this to move material (heh heh...) just as i was leaving, a storm rolled in. got a one in a million shot, a flash of lightning, threw the truck window, as i'm driving...ta-daaa cows hanging out... 'bout a 40 min drive out of Merritt out in the middle of nowhere is this big hydro station |
