Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Thanks for the kind works !
It's coming along, just a bit slower than I wanted. My new time frame to have this on the road is next summer. Everything seems to take loooonger than I expected, and there's always little things you didn't even think about that pop up ! Gary

Thanks Shawn ! Your truck came out great, awesome looking truck !
I never did make a list, if I did I probably would have been overwhelmed ! "LOL" I kinda keep a running mental list in my head of the next thing that needs to be done and what I need to do it, that's when the little things pop up. Kinda like Oh $h!t ..... forgot about that.... "LOL"

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Wow! Im loving the color of your truck.
My name is Gary. I too have a 72 Cheyenne Super Sport. Original color Med Olive/White/Med Olive.. although mine isn't a shorty, nor is it a 4x4. And currently in a thousand pieces, in shop, yard, garage. Guess I'm kinda biased on the colors.. LOL. Now that I think about its kinda weird and cool at the same time. |

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Hey Gary;
Sounds like we have a couple of things in common...... This color scheme is my favorite, the green & white with the trim just pops. I had a swb stepside that was all the same green but that was just too much green for me. Mine was in pieces all over the place for many years until I got back at it a couple years ago. My plan is to have it on the road in the spring ! Good luck with your project ! Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Thanks Jeff & Jim !
I pretty much back to normal, just a bit weaker but that's coming back.... Jeff I replied to your questions the best I could at the moment, if you need more info let me know. I haven't touched the truck for a couple weeks now, been getting ready for winter, stacking firewood, cleaning up leaves ( TONS of leaves ). But I'll be back to the truck soon, sometimes a break from the project is a good thing. Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Gary. thanks for the PM'd answers. Got a question here on your sway bar mods I want to clarify. On the drivers side the front bolt is where the one rivet was removed for the Steering box reinforcement plate. Where is the rear bolt? Can't see it in the picture I copied. Does it line up to the rivet hole in the x-member or did you drill a new hole? Looks like the passenger side both bolted in new holes in front of the x-member.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Jeff;
If I remember correctly the drivers side I was able to use 2 existing rivet holes and the Passenger side I drilled 2 new holes. Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Hey Chris:
My knee had finally gotten back to the point where I could get around and do things again, got all caught up with the firewood and leaf clean up, and I suffered yet another health setback ! On Sunday, just before Thanks Giving, I notice something wasn't quite right with my right leg & arm, my fine motor skills were not good, I had 2 incidences that day where I couldn’t control them correctly. When I had the 2nd episode I had my girlfriend take me to the hospital. Turns out I was having a small stroke !!!! Yikes, what a scare !!!! I was rushed into Mass General Hospital in Boston, where I spent the next couple of days. Long story short, I’m just about back to 100% and working again. Close call ! My place of work is shutting down for 2 weeks over the Holidays so I plan on spending some of that time working on the truck. Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Funny, I'd never gotten the impression that either of you (Gary & Chris) were particularly old. Those mini-strokes are scary business and hopefully won't be an issue now that it has your attention. Hoping your health remains good now and can't wait to see your holiday progress.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Thanks Chris !!
I'm taking this latest issue as a wakeup call to take better care of myself. Cut down on the alcohol, get my cholesterol down and exercise regularly !!! I'm not over weight, I'm fairly fit, but my body chemistry just doesn't take care of cholesterol !!! So I'm on meds for that. I was very lucky this time that I didn't suffer any long term or permanent side effects ! You just never know !!! You enjoy your Holidays also Chris.... and the same to everyone else !!! Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Dang - you are old! I'll be 54 in a couple months. You are right, it is more about how well you take care of yourself than your actual age. So take care, and have a great (and productive) holiday.

Looking forward to your holiday progress- glad you didn't have any permanent damage! Saw a t-shirt once that said "50 isn't old... if you're a tree! Just joking around- (I'm 48 btw)

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Yeah, lately it's been a struggle, one thing after the other. But as far as I know there's only one way to avoid getting old, and I don't want that, so I'll deal with the aches and pains, heed the serious warnings and keep moving !
I'm thinking about getting a book called "Eat To Life". It's supposed to be the only diet proven to get your cholesterol down by as much as 33%. I hate taking the statin drugs, they just don't agree with me.... Man I'm going to miss my burgers & steaks..... "LOL"
