Sad story...I'm on my 4th intake manifold, First one was a stock two barrel, second one was for a standard SB w/four barrel, third one was for Vortec heads and I galled the threads on an alum. plug. Out comes the #6 Spiral easy out, and it developed so much pressure getting the pipe plug out it cracked the 'brand new' manifold

Wifey said I could borrow 200 bucks off of her, but I wonder what the interest rate will be

Still here......


Here's an update of where the truck stands now.


My cab didn't have a rear view mirror so I measured and drilled holes for one (major progress I know) If the holes look crooked its because the cheap aftermarket mount had the holes drilled uneven.

Installed cargo light switch





Marked the doors and drilled holes for my sport mirrors.







With the driver's side buttoned up, I've been working getting the passenger side squared away.













No pictures, but got the kick panel area repaired during this process as well.


Added a new drip rail






Got the door hung (again) trying to line up the rocker. The passenger side is going a lot smoother than the driver's side did that's for sure.






Got the fender mounted checking the gaps at the door and rocker. Notice the tape on the door window hoop, I've got to cut it and remove a little material like I did on the driver's side door.





At this point the rocker is almost ready to get welded in. There are a couple areas where I need to fill in the door/fender gap a little, but nothing major. I'll just add a little metal to the door edge and blend it in. Once that is done then I can get the cab corner installed and hopefully move to another area of my cab. I'm tired of hanging and re-hanging doors and rockers.


I'm going to tackle the firewall next. I plan on smoothing it for the most part, but I've got to get the new cowl panel installed first. Wish me luck.

This part of your project could not come at a more perfect time, Im at the same point but just far enough behind that you are figuring out all of the weird quirks so i dont have to use my limited brain matter. Thanks a million. Also, you can hold your head a little higher these days, our military is something else, God bless all of you.

Glad to help. I owe all the credit to this board and my neighbor Alan. Without their knowledge and support I'm not sure I could've tackled this project. Thanks for the well wishes. Our military is truly something to be proud of.

Still scratching away at it. It's slowly starting to take shape. Any time allocated in your schedule to work on yours in the near future? You're close enough now that with a solid week of work you could have it mobile.

Luckily the tornados just skirted around us. It was a little hairy at times though.

Oh no, ran out of money Still gotta get my front and back glass installed so I can get it back to the body shop for colorsand n buff. Then I have about a gazillion little things to do!

Gotta post some pics of the man cave when you get done. After the bad storms/tornados last week my wife is wanting a safe room built in our basement now.

Thank you sir. Yeah, these patches preform pretty well. Much better than I expected. The body lines match up extremely well and the gaps aren't all that bad either. A little tweaking and it'll be good. Thanks for checking in.

My wife is a work in progress when it comes to home safety, I have to tell her what and how to shut down systems, how and where to exit, plus where the guns and keys to the trigger guards are

No, I paid my paint guy today for the windshield and front and back gaskets. He is gonna install them so he can sand n buff it without ruining my interior. Should have the truck back to him next week. Then I gotta get started on refinishing my trim, I decided to go this route instead of buying it all new aftermarket.

Small progress update......


The passenger side cab repair is almost buttoned up....finally.

We found out while test fitting the cab corner that is was formed wrong and needed to be massaged a little. The bend radius was too short on the cab corner and it didn't line up well with the straight edge of the "b" pillar. We mocked it up, tacked it in place and then cut a relief cut in the piece and made it fit like it was supposed to. Hopefully the pictures will explain what I can't.








The cab corner and rocker were finally welded in after final fitment of the door.







I then moved onto the door window hoop fitment issue. I ended up cutting a hard 1/8" out of it and the radius turned out perfect. I just hope the glass fits.





The upper kick panel area is next on the list. There were quite a few pin holes in it after it came back from the sandblaster.




Trying to get a rough idea of what needed to be cut out. (Excuse the sloppy freehand marks.)




Out with the old...





And in with the new, sort of. I still need to finish welding it in.





This is where it currently stands at the moment. I should be finishing up the the kick panel area this week and then I can move onto the cowl and firewall. The plan is to shave the firewall and then make the passenger side of it mirror the radius on the driver's side.


Not really an exciting update, but it's progress nonetheless.
