Well, I ended up scoring a bunch of polished stainless Borgeson goodies of craigslist so the fact that I borrowed parts from Tubby resulted in an upgrade for it anyway.

...back on the Minx. Here's what I've been up to.

Tacked front lateral:

Rear lateral mock:

Engine mount placement:

All welded up:

...other little tasks completed:

Shift rod shortened/drilled, and housing located. Just need to get it tig'ed up:

Sectioned the steering column by ~2.75" so I could mock up the steering shaft location for engine mount placement:

When did you get a TIG? Did I miss that? Names, numbers, pics. I wish my welds looked halve as good. I TIG welded some stainless exhaust pipe lase night. Boy do I need practice welding out of position! I will grind it today and see what I missed.

Those are MIG welds.

The subframe will be powdercoated and the shift rod cover tube will be shortened and installed. I mentioned tig welding regarding the trans case, which is aluminum. I don't have a tig ...yet I still have room for improvement on the welding. Have you seen Porterbuilt's or Built-by-Brooks'??? Thanks for the compliment though.

Yes those steel welds are MIGs. I was referring to "Just need to get it tig'ed up". Can't TIG without a TIG. I could have separated the thoughts better though.

Good choice on the radiator FF! I just recieved a Griffin today for my Sonoma.

I'd comment on the subframe but why seperate it from everything else. ALL the work looks great!

Ya have a tubing bender or do you have somebody bend the tubing for ya? (subframe and ya mentioned bending up some a-arms in the future)

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

I have a JD2 model 32. I borrowed some 1.5" model 3 dies and they wouldn't fit my bender (bigger pins on the 32) so I ended up borrowing the whole bender (hydrolic one).

Thanks man. How'd those wheels work out?
I haven't updated this in a couple weeks because I started a minor house project that snowballed like everything else I do...

I do have one motor mount ready for final welding

Big time! The house was built in 1948 so everything about it is a might-as-well.

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

realy like the older houses they have a lot of details and craftmanship in them
lot of scrolls in the woodwork and in the banister of the stairs old style joints in the structure sumtimes woodpanneling and a lot of fancy plastering , they usually need a lot of work i seen a lot of buildings that where completely changed in the 70's and everything hidden behind plasterboard to give it that clean modern look they where after back then you often cant use a electric sander on those scrolls and round shapes and offten those details are painted in but i think there worth it

like to see some pics of the details in the house

It has nothing like that. It was basically a farm house that was expanded and remodeled over the years with very little attention to detail. Good "bones" though. Lotsa potential.

Sounds like my last house. 1947 story and 1/2, but never remodeled or expanded until I bought it. Good bones. Built a 30x36 garage, place for my car trailer, gutted the house, made everything just the way I wanted it and sold it...had twins a couple years ago and my space needs for a house changed quickly.

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

hmmm you couldve build an extention on top of the garage for the kids
i later thought about it the house is out of 1948 so shortly after the war , over here they pounded out homes by the dozen after the war was over because of the bombings lots of people needed homes and they where pretty basic to build them faster
