The bolts apply pressure to the main caps.

Do you have lowering blocks? I'm running a 2" one.

No lowering blocks, 5" springs. I only have 1/4" clearance. Just trying to help.

Appreciate the help 100%! I think the reason I have more clearance is because the blocks move the rearend up in the chassis. Do you have a better picture of where the track bar bolts to the trailing arm?

Re: 68 S/C update.....

Rob,

Maybe this will help..

These are not the best but I have about 1/2" clearance with the "curved" CPP bar with 5" drop rear springs, no blocks. It is still sitting on the jack stands in the second pic, sorry I don't have any from above.

I took these a few months ago when I pulled the cover off my 71 project so I could dust her off... With those cobwebs you can tell I am not working on her enough

Thanks! I've got the rear axle lines made. I also had Inline tube build me a longer line to go from the frame to the axle. Just need to install the front lines, line-lock and then bleed eveyrthing....

I had been looking for a nice SWB 68 truck to be my "daily driver" while I'm finishing up a few other projects and this one met 90% of the criteria that I was looking for in a truck.

The first few pictures are of the truck when I first purchased it. It is an extremely solid, minimal rust, original paint truck. It came with a sweet 630 TQ/622 HP 383 Stroker motor with a Vortech Supercharger, Sid Neal TH350 and a 3.08 posi. While the motor/tranny seemed to be bullet proof, the suspension was not...... It had the original suspension that the previous owner cut and heated the coils to lower it. The ride was terrible and it felt unsafe when you would hit any bumps. So the suspension was the first thing that I tackled. It also had a fuel cell and battery mounted in the bed, This along with some super wide tubs, pretty much rendered the bed useless. So battery and tank will be removed and placed in their propper location, . Here's a list of updates that I have completed and some of the other stuff I plan on updating.

Fronts: 18x8, 5" BS, 28-10 M/T SR

Probably not, but it's something to shoot for, .

Well the brakes are finally done. I can already tell a big difference with just the little bit of driving I have done (I can feel the 4.10 gear pretty well too, ). I will probably bleed them one more time and I want to do a little adjusting with the built in proportioning valve, but I'm really impressed with this CPP big brake kit and their aliminum mastercylinder with the built in proportioning valve. I'm going to get the front end aligned tomorrow and drive it for a little while before do anything else. I also got my line-lock wired up. I found a cool way to wire it while searching online. It uses a switch and a relay that allows the horn button to activate the line lock when the switch is flipped. Since I no longer have a floor shifter to mount the switch to, I thought this would be the most practical and cleanest way to do it. Here's the write-up I used: http://www.cherod.com/mustang/HowTo/LineLock.htm

I would love to see how your master cylinder looks done and lines run... I picked one up but haven't gotten that far yet with the install. Truck looks killer

My front ones are marked, but not the rears. I just matched them up.

Re: 68 S/C update.....

smart thinking! I just checked and your right the rears are not marked. How do you like your new wheels? i was looking at these (see pic) last year but with the cost and i wasn't a 100% sure of what size, or what size i could use on the truck, so i didn't get them yet. Yours look great

Re: 68 S/C update.....

I just ordered the last piece of the puzzle for my exhaust system. I was looking for some "big headers" that would tuck up in the frame and after a lot of research I ordered a set of ceramic coated, 1 3/4" primary, 3" ball collector headers from Dan at Clearer Image Automotive.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=314836

I also picked up an ECE tranny mount and a ECE trailing arm crossmember which will allow me to keep the exhaust up high all the way to the rear... The entire system will consist of this:

Big headers
3" QTP electric cutouts,
2 1/2" aluminized exhaust
H-pipe
3 Chamber Flowmasters
Stainless steel tips

This should help quiet normal driving down, but allow me to open it up when I want some real performance, .

Sweet setup. Especially love the cutouts...had them on an 80Z28 but they were manual and I always burnt myself

You've taken this truck from really cool to TOTALLY AWESOME!
