We tried that on a section and the top was perfectly smooth but it's like there was some cloudiness trapped beneath it. There would be small random places where it looked very nice and that may have been where we sanded through the coat that got messed up.

It seems that the doors are done with paint! I was just sent this picture. I like how the drivers side door blends in with the side

Did you wind up completely re-shooting red and clear or just touch up then complete re-clear?

Thumbs up Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window

I just sat here and read the entire post, a college education is a terrible thing to waste but I think if you enjoyed the build you know where you should send your career. You and Josh do beautiful work. Good idea's and outcome. I am 4 credit hours away from an MBA but I enjoyed body work so much I did it for a living always made high 5 figure to low 6 figuire income. Owned my own shop for awhile but working for others was the easy rode for me. They get all the PIA'S I got all the money, never took a salary always worked piece rate. You did a great job and I hope this is the first rebuild on this truck in many years to come.

Wow thanks a lot for the kind words and for reading through the build. I've always thought that it would be cool to operate a nice shop of my own some day. We'll see! And I hope to be able to hold on to this truck for the rest of my life!

So...how I spent my spring break.
sanding, sanding, sanding, painting, sanding, sanding, painting, sanding, etc... but I finally got the whole cab in some color! There were two dents in the back of the cab caused by the bed that I had brought out a little bit before. I didn't think it would do for the final paint, so Josh and I sorted them out using a stud welder that we borrowed from 62ls1. Finally sprayed the clear Saturday morning!
Not yet wetsanded.

Re: Project: 1967 C10 Small Window

Paint is looking very nice, wish I had the paint skill. I can do anything but paint and just bought doors for my truck to get ready for paint and thought I could with some info and a lot of work but then a painter asked me if I could rebuild his 429 for his 59 Ford and he would trade for painting my 71, so not this time, trading is better.
