you think that guy still has what was not bought by you? how did you contact him? I'm looking for a all stock coe not to build but to ues as a work truck so i would love to find something with the 6 cal in it still

Actually SS, it was never listed for sale at all. I do know the remains of the truck and many others in the same yard, went to the crusher only months after I picked up the COE body. I can tell you if your looking for a daily work truck a COE in it's stock form is not a good choice. Stock it had a max speed of around 45 to 50 MPH, manual everything, and only came in a wide dual wheels. Now with major modifications, a COE can be a good daily work truck with a ton of personality.

i can tell you is i work over seas. i don't want my boys cruzing my coe if i find one. thats why i want it all stock love to drive around in when i get state side the wife wont drive kids can't drive stick.... like to find 1 before i get on my next contract date...... i don't have anybody not even family willing to help i tried that route... i was willing to drive to idaho i found 1950 CHEVY COE. my 1st cousin would not let me park it there till i was able to get up there which would have been 3 to 4 days for sale @ $3500 i running drivable coe i...thats a nut shell.... if you know of one on the west coast chevy or gmc..... thanks SS madness

Pretty cool.... !

I have a neighbor/friend that is an absolute MOPAR fanatic... he has like 6 or 7 of them (that I can see).... He races a 66 Dodge Dart with a slant 6 in it for fun. He just restored a 69 GTX. Is working on a couple of early Demons. Now I see he has a 70's era Tradesman RV that he gutted....




Im gonna try and talk him into making it a race car hauler for his Dart. Your pic of the COE with the Shelby on it will be the inspiration for him!....

I've been playing with paint and went back to the 30 foot COE idea, just think of the storage. I also added my camper. Will be back on the bags Saturday.

Well I received a few parts in and did a little work on some upgrades today.
For my air tank I'm using an old 5 gallon portable air can I refitted with an air line to supply the manual air control valve.
Interesting enough is the face dimensions of the Little Larry's air control valve matches the opening size of the radio delete plate on the dash.
Pictured is the Altman latch being installed, the refitted air can and the pressure gauges (2 dual for the bag pressures and 1 single for the tank.) and the manual control valve for the air ride. Even though the plan was to do the final install of the front air bags today it was decided with the passenger door popping open while turning a corned the other day the latch install became a priority.

Nice parts, like the valve. How much hacking did ya have to do for those claw latches? What brand, where did you get them and how much? Thanks

The latches are from Classic Parts, they are the Altman set that are commonly used. $350. You do have to remove a piece about 1 1/2" X 3" but it comes with a good template.

Making a little more progress on the air ride system. I decided to put the gauges and controls behind the speaker grill. I will need to hinge the bottom and make some kind of latch system, but others have done it so maybe I can figure something out. I had to build a box to recess the controls. I will also relocate my switches for the cruise control, check engine light, shifter switch, compressor control switch and gear position lights in the same space so I can get those things off the dash to clean things up a bit. My bends are a little on the crude side but I don't have a brake so all that stuff was done with a hammer and cut off wheels. The last picture is something else I may try this winter.

Hey AD, do you have pictures of how you did the hinge of the speaker grill? How did you control your bag system and how did you like it? This is my first truck on air so I still have a lot to learn.

Rob,

We used piano hinge for the bottom of the grill push magnets to secure the grill at the top. Overall it worked pretty well. The system was a three channel with switches for left and right front (the top switches) and a single for the rear. And two gauges with four needles. LF, RF, Rear and tank pressure.

Since it was all manual I had to remember to open the speaker grill to monitor the gauges on a periodic basis.
