Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
sort of an update i guess......
YES or NO on the yakima roof racks? i actually kinda like the way they look on it, especially when aired out. and they kinda go with the look of it. also need to make longer cross bars if i put them on as they are at minimum 5" to short. |

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
I will say NO for the roof racks.Try putting the front rack at the B pillar,I think it may look better

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
im gonna say no to the roof rack too..maybe the stock roof racks would be nice. the ones that mount on top of the roof, that one looks like it mounts on the side.

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
i have thought about that but they are kind of hard to find and kind of expensive, and i wouldn't want to have to hurt someones feelings or something by scuffing the heck out of the chrome and painting it black . that and i would rather have one that is easily removable without having holes to patch and repainting and yes this one is a drip rail mount one

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
What type of roof racks are they? I'm looking for something similar to throw a couple of fishing Kayaks on. I agree a stock roof rack would look great, but not practical for what I need too. A rail mount that can be removed is just the ticket!

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
they are drip rail mount yakima racks, we don't have the keys and stuff for them, and if i end up using them like i want to do, i will need to make or buy longer cross bars for them as these do not spread wide enough apart with the ones in their now

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
here is a small update for you guys....
the new front seat after a quick cleaning that is replacing the bucket seats, a few mods will be made before installation modification #1 remove the ugly headrests looking better already the next mod will most likely be cutting down the seat brackets to make it sit lower in the burb Last edited by project 67 sub; 06-25-2011 at 04:04 AM. |

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
the cut down modded seat track/frame
the pieces removed from the seat track/frame test fit after putting the seat track/frame back on, definately gonna need a tilt column now , but i guess that could be a good thing top of seat back level with the window channel and its in, just needs a real good cleaning as it kinda smells even though it looks clean |

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
the mirrors (originals from a 73-87 c10) i will be running that i bought for $14 off the board a while back, just need to find 1 more mounting bracket as it didnt come with any, and then buy some mirror gaskets. oh! and they will be getting scuffed up and painted black as well
oh! and 1 more thing.... does anyone know what i can do to help hide the scratches in the mirror face?? thanks. Last edited by project 67 sub; 06-28-2011 at 02:15 AM. |

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
nice choice on the mirrors..they look pretty sleek..
still tryin to figure some out on mine..but i think i might go with no mirrors. maybe just buy some clip on peeps. i like the smooth look what are you using for seatbelts with that bench seat?

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
thanks, i may still get new mirrors for it later though, probably the sport style mirrors that are correct for this body style, but these were cheap enough so i will run them for a while
yah i like the smooth look as well but i also like to be able to see better, and i don't want to have to worry about getting pulled over by the popo for it, cause then they will probably give me tickets for other things as well seat belts..... what are those??? jk jk lol. i haven't had seatbelts in this thing since i have owned it, (neither does my daily driver 70 beetle) i will most likely be putting some in though, but it will just be some retractable lap belts when i do Last edited by project 67 sub; 06-28-2011 at 10:45 AM. |

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
thanks Rick, my fab skill are way far from the best, but i try lol. they would be alot better if i had a good welder. but this pos harbor freight flux core welder that i use halfway gets me by for some light non structural stuff. it sucks horribly bad for body work though, so i will not use it for that if i don't have to, which i don't, because i haven't done any patch panel replacement, and wont, till i can afford a good mig welder for that.

They look nice but I think you may benefit as I did from putting them up on the top of the jam. Gives that gangster low profile look, and then you can fill all those holes.
