Re: 49' Patina bagged in PA
uncle jimi, seat is out of 88-89 chevy I think width is about 56". In my 51 I'v used one out of a 73-87 I swear and its about 56". i got two other seats outta 73-87 and they are about 58-59" wide which won't fit.
Perdue, these joints are rated up to 38* the cycle seems good. I thought about getting a double joint for up top to give it a little more room for error. I'll try it out and rework it if need. I wonder if I brought the initial shaft all the way down and mounted the heim lower if i could get any better angle.

Re: 49' Patina bagged in PA
12-8 Doesn't look like much but there are some other things I got done, just no pics or worth mentioning. Got front fenders, inners, running boards top coated with herculiner.
made a bracket to mount my wire harness to. started routing some wires. made a dock in the center of cab so I can mount relays and grounds to. Got ebrake pedal in, came outta a 90's silverado. debating on putting my air tank behind my seat. Going to be a tight squeeze in the bed and I don't want to move my bed height any more than it is.

Re: 49' Patina bagged in PA
Looking good 99! I had tight steering room on the 35 Chevy and ended up with a double about in the middle by the header...made a lot more room.
How do you like the harness? |

Re: 49' Patina bagged in PA
thanks AD, harness seems good so far. Really easy to deal with Bob over there. He usually emails you right back on any questions. As for my steering, I'm gonna pull the whole unit up into the cab an inch or two and that should straighten out the joints alot more. Still might do a double joint up top, but I got working on some other things so I haven't gotten back to that.
I got my PWS bracket, just need a puller for my pulley so I can either get a new pump or clean mine up. Got my accuair valve coming, I'll explain more on that later. Trying to get wiring done enough to where I can just start the truck with the ignition. Been meaning to fire it back up and check the clutch. Trying to get front clip back on soon, gotta make a fan shroud so I can have the fan come off and on incase it ever dies. I don't like the zip ties. Iv been short on money because of winter and xmas so I'm gonna be bouncing around alot again. This feels like the never ending build and I'v been through some things during this time so thats why she is called "49Hardtimes"

Re: 49' Patina bagged in PA
12-13 not alot of pics, but I did run some of my battery wires. I build this junction box for my kill switch that will be under the seat so I can just reach down and access it. Its almost done. I need a little more wire to complete the system. I used 10ft of each so far so I really only need about a ft or so of pos cable.
I did some printing for a somewhat local air ride supply shop. Traded for the VU4 manifold and the harness to run the AVS switch box. also got some fittings. money has been real tight, esp with the holidays and 4 kids. So I'm gonna be skimping by with stuff to do. Got alot of wiring but I need to do alot of things bf that is finalized. Hoping to get front clip back on monday.

Re: 49' Patina bagged in PA
12-22 Got front clip back on, hopefully for last time. I'll be taking radiator out so I can fab up a base for the fan. It will connect to my core support so it will make not only a place to bolt my efan to, but help keep the front end strong. Gotta start on wiring next.

Re: 49' Patina bagged in PA
12-23 thanks guys far from finished. alot of little things that need done. I'm building a custom consol that will hide up under the dash a bit. Have alot of wiring to do. Gotta mount my compressors, traps, and valve manifold. My goal is to get it mostly all wired up so I can start it and possibly have the air management done. Then I can worry about the door locks and all the extra gismos I'll have.
AD I'll def show some pics of the rad support I came up with. I use a 55 belair radiator and the mounting tabs are different than say a stock radiator. So I have a pretty good method on mounting it. Though I think I might switch it up whenever I do another build like this. Here is some sound deadner 50 mil. found it on ebay, made in usa. ohio actually and was sold by a place in erie, which is only about 45 min from where I build my stuff. So with supporting the locals and only running me 60 bucks, I jumped on it. Not sure if it was a tad bid cold or if my floor just won't stick cause of overspray but it didn't stick too good. So luckily I had some aluminum tape on hand that is much stickier. This took a little longer than I anticipated (whats new). started routing more wires. I really like the Rebel 21 circuit. I only switched up a couple wires they loomed together. I'll route all the engine related stuff in the center of cab. Then all the headlight and fan stuff out through the pass cowl and through the inner fender, everything should be hidden pretty well. The black tubing you see is the seat mounts and the little black box in the middle is my killswitch box/pwr distribution block. I'll have the truck set up to turn the killswitch off just about everytime I turn the truck off, kind of a habit of mine. but... I'll have some stuff wired up so it will work even if the kill switch is off. Dome lights and pwr locks for instance.

Very nice progress 99, I think your maybe 2 or 3 months ahead of me as far as progress goes, so I have been watching your build. As far as a lot of pictures goes, I do the same, the more people see your build, the more useful tips and ideas you get.
Keep it up, Rob

Re: 49' Patina bagged in PA
thanks everyone, glad my pics or ideas can help others. This site is great for that. I got some more wiring done, I'll post pics of something worthy. I'm pretty happy with all the routing so far. @49 thanks, I'm not throwing anything together on this truck even though I'm getting a little impatient on finishing it. I'm already motivated to do another truck and be done with this one. But I really just want to drive it and make sure I don't gotta iron too many things out.

Re: 49' Patina bagged in PA
12-31 Last post of the year. So I finally got some wiring done and have headlights, high/low beam, turn and flashers. hooked up my ignition switch and as you can see fired up the engine. Last time it was fired up was in summer. I currently don't have the tach hooked up and I didn't let it warm up at all, so considering that she fired up good. need to get on some tuning.
Gonna try and get some work done new years. I'm waiting on a bunch of wire fittings and such so i can finalize all my running lights. I'll have tons of extra doodads going on inside the cab, so its gonna be alot of wiring in there. I need to get my air ride plumbed and wired up real soon. Need to finish exhaust as you can see. Everything is all roughed in. I still need to finalize a ton of things. Even the front clip isn't bolted tight and I got to start on my efan shroud and also my interior console so I can start hooking up gauges. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DR_...ature=youtu.be
