Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Figured you'd know, now whats a over center spring, lol.
I'm pluggin' away at it. Got some stuff painted yellow today and wasted some paint, lol. Heres the wasted paint. Ash tray front. Wasn't happy with the glove box door and fuel filler door so I painted those again. Got the rest of the small stuff painted too, defrost vents, ac vents windshield wipers assembly and a ton of bolts. For anyone wondering I use a Satajet RP gun with a 1.3 tip. They don't make the paint I started with anymore and this is what the old part number crossed over to. Its a new formula still made by Sherwin Williams. Laid out nice, especially since I got the gun setup right, lol. Yeah, that helps, lol. |

What about a contrasting color?
What is the interior going to be...yellow too? Cool though, you won't need to use lights in the shop anymore with that glowing yellow in there. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Yeah there is a slight tint difference. I redid the inside when I painted the rest of the tub so thats good to go. The rest will be taken care of when I take it to the booth. Wish I'd of had the dough to go bc/cc. Its way easier to deal with. Especially for a not professional painter like me. Still may clear if I ever decide on a graphic to toss on it. And yes the building is a bit brighter with the yellow. Gotta love it.

Basically pulls the pedal back into position. Needs to be there as far as I know. Tom if you need one, I just switched a pedal assembly out and have that spring sitting on the bench. PM your snal mail addy and I can send it, no problem. |

Got everything coated in bed liner. It was a long day.... Still a little happy from the fumes, lol. Used a respirator but I believe it leaked. Stuck the gas door, glove box door, ac vents and couple little other things on too. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Before blurting out what kind I'll explain how good it is. Its real good, lol. I've had it on the lower sides of my Dodge for 4 years now and no problems. So its exposed to more abuse than if I'd of put it in the bed. Its a brand that everyone shakes their head at when you say it.
Bondo Truck Guard.... Its a two part kit and I rolled it on. Plus when it cures out its not as rough as some of the other roll on liners I've seen. Still has texture just not enough to cut your had should you brush up against it, lol. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Installed the clutch/brake assembly, shift and trans levers, some firewall rubber stuff, kick panel vent doors, and the cup holder. Still have some adjusting to do on the cup holder but its neat. Started to put the tailgate together but I guess I've lost or forgot to buy those little clip things. So its a no go on that until I get some of those little clips.

Man I want to. All depends on funds and a few other crazy things. Should have some road time on it before then, probably have some bugs to work out.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Got the gas fill lines in, gas pedal redone, wire for rear view mirror ran, wire for spot light ran, under hood wiring about done, and a bunch of other little stuff. I like messing with wiring almost as much as running a piece of sand paper.
I didn't start it because, no gas in the tank yet, but.... I did bump it over with the KEY! Yeah, it made me grin, lol. I used to pick up all my tools and put everything away after I was done for the day. I've decided thats just a big waste of time, lol. Oh what a mess. The rest of the garage looks like this too, lol. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
There are screw drivers layin' all over the place and I still can never find one when I need it, lol... I can't wait till some stuff it paid for. I have a future plan of going full tilt on a garage of my own, lol. Well maybe not full tilt, haven't decided on if I need/want a lift yet, haha.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
FIRED IT UP TONIGHT! Yeah, that deserves all caps, lol. Took a minute to start it though. I didn't have the connector pushed onto the spade in the HEI, but beside it. That was one of those "Dammit" moments. Started laying out the way I want the sound system to go in. Shouldn't be too big a deal. I just hope the amps work, I powered them on but put no sound through them yet. Maybe tomorrow. The tach works, fuel guage works, oil pressures good, not sure if the speedo works, lol. I haven't found the wire for the temp guage yet but its in there somewhere. The amp guage didn't move but that could be a bad alternator, its one that I had laying around and no idea where it came from. I'll upgrade that when I get some dough anyways. Started to mount the under hood light that I took off a late model Chevy pickup. Not sure if thats where I want it or not. Heres a few pics. I forgot my camera so these are cell pics, not quite as good but still visible.
Heres the amps, one Kenwood 1000 watt sub amp and one Fosgate 140 watt to push two 6x9's. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
My amp gauge never moves much. If I drain the Battery a little it will move while it is charging.
