Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build

I am using a 16" Derale 16136. All the good aftermarket fans should be similar.
I never had any luck with the fan temp probe in the block as the thermostat keeps the engine at a consistent temp. But there is no pcm.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build

Thanks again JJ!

Looks like the Spal I'm looking at is pretty much the same as the Derale you are using. Where do you order your parts from? Even with the crappy dollar, it's still cheaper on a lot of things to get them out of the states.

On a lot of my parts, I tend to price-shop between Amazon, Jegs/Summit and Ebay ... I wish just one of them always had the best prices on everything, but it's rarely the case

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build

Just noticed JJ but I meant to ask Lowers where he orders his stuff fro as he's in Canada too. Brain fart on my end.

Question. What year of S-10 are you guy's using the brake pedal assembly out of?

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build

on my 51' I used a brake pedal from a square body s10. I just bought a corvette pedal assembly off egay for dirt cheap should work out pretty similar. I used a 98 Silverado pedal on my 49' little taller allowing the booster to go up higher. I like it. I like the s10 pedal setup the least.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build

Mine was out of a square S10 as well, '87-'93 vintage. I think a fullsize truck bracket from the '88-'98 realm might work reasonably well, too.

**EDIT** saw 99 to Life recommended the '88-'98 bracket, too ... so +1

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build

Thanks guys! Maybe I should be rethinking things. I have a booster MC coming. Thinking of using a factory pedal and bracket such as the s10 as I don't know the dimensions to build my own. If anybody has ideas, please share.

I was thinking of building my own on last two builds and just became easier to use one that was already someone done. but... it would be easy to build non the less.

Congrats to your son and the proud ole' man! Great memories for sure.

Build is looking great!

I still order from Summit now and then. Some stuff there's not a ton of options and have to go State side. If youre close to the border get it shipped to a UPS store and pick it up there. A lot of US based companies offer free shipping within the States.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build

Thanks 99. Have any pictures of the 98 brake pedal assembly? Found your S10 setup in your builds. What year Vette assembly did you get? No sense in re inventing the wheel!

Found your bracket mods in your build JJ. Great work and very detailed documentation! Will be referencing that for sure.

4Dseven. That's pretty much what I have been doing too. I have a shipping address at Wellesley Island just across the border at thousand islands. I actually have a rad and fan sitting there ready for pickup. Waiting on a few more parts to come in before I go and pick it all up.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build

here is the pedal I got, this one is on ebay right now same price, same seller. only mine came with the brake light switch, but those are dirt cheap. Preliminary viewing, the bolting pattern on the back of the pedal most likely isn't going to line up with the booster I have. So.. I'll confirm that tomorrow. If I was a real man I'd have a friggin tig welder and I could work with this aluminum bracket. Since I'm a pauper, well I'll have to bolt a plate with the right bolt pattern to this and mount to firewall that way. Which... isn't bad to do since you need to reinforce the firewall anyway, the plate will serve two purposes.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build

Thanks 99! Pictures and info is a great help. Found a guy parting out a 1992 and a couple 1997 trucks. Is there a prefered year of truck to get the brake assembly out of that you know of? I'm gonna take your advice and get a longer siverado setup.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build

well, my pedal came out of an automatic and let me tell you, was the biggest nightmare I ever had taking something out. There are lots of spot welds on the top, some of which I had to cut a hole in the cowl from the outside to drill them out. So if you can get in there and torque it out, I'd suggest that. If you could find one out of a 73-87 I bet it would work just as good and easier to take out.

Sid, have you considered this one from Speedway?

Reaper71 used it in his Orange truck build and it is $80. Has good reviews.

so the 95 brake assembly is welded in? Crap! that sounds like a bunch of work. The 73-87 assemblies unbolt?

Yes I believe the 73-87 assemblies unbolt. My mid '80's chev van pedal did.

Jim, just reading thru your build. I'm doing C4 with flatout. I see early on you indicated that you wish you had done the front suspension first. I was thinking of starting on the rear first. What was your reasoning there ? Thanks Jay.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Farm Truck Build

The reason I said that was because of the way the rack mounts to the cross member which limits how low one can get the front. That's with my type of front cross member anyways.

Where were you able to find that pan for that price? Or was that just the pan without the pick up tube, windage tray, and dip stick? I need that set up too.
