No offence to anyone on this thread, but some of those fake patina jobs look great from 50 feet but just don't do much for me when you're close up. That one on eBay is a good example of that, for me.

dubie, your truck is looking awesome. I think you're doing the fake patina right! I can't wait to see it all finished!

Re: 56 shop truck build

Thanks! this is a lot more sanding than I had hoped for, I guess I should have laid the paint on a bit thinner. But I'm getting the desired look I was after

Re: 56 shop truck build

here is the fender finished and wiped down. I also just remembered last night that I didn't paint my gas cap so I thought I would make something different. SO I used an old horn button and made a new gas cap

Re: 56 shop truck build

Horn button is a cool idea. Did you shoot it with flat clear after sanding, or do you want it to continue oxiding??

Re: 56 shop truck build

I'm going to let it oxidize for the summer and then spray some matte clear over it in the fall.

Re: 56 shop truck build

I bolted the bumper back on and drove it out into the yard for a couple pictures.
I just have to get the bed floor in and we are ready to go. Hopefully get that done in the next couple nights

Re: 56 shop truck build

Looks great Tim! Looks like you got a GMC bumper on the front judging from the extra holes.
