Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Patrick, What size pulley are you looking for? I seen a few on EBay that are 6 3/4 and 7 3/4. Does the pulley have 3 mounting holes? Also, what do you prefer, chrome or black? Please let me know ASAP.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

I was showing a co-worker some of your build thread today, and some of the neat ideas you have used. Then I realized how far you have come since I have started following your build, you have come a long way!!

Keep up the great work and keep up giving me great ideas to use!!

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Nice and warm, finished up the seat frame covers. Learned that you cannot upholster a 1/4 sphere shape without some cuts or folds. I think they turned out ok for a first try, but it will affect future design. Working on the cup holders and the fill piece across the front top rail. Should have a cash infusion next week to order some critical time line parts so I can make some good progress. Goal is to drive it to a local private invitation only show I get invited to every August.

OrrieG, Your corner pieces look good, I found that when I worked on corners like that I use a heat gun to help soften the material and lets you pull it a little tighter, but watch the heat. Jim

Jim and Kim - Thanks. It was 83 degrees yesterday in the garage and things seemed to be stretching ok. Hard to see that part anyway when I get the doors on.

Cup holder rough welded ala KustomBrad. Going to mount on the seat frame something like the photo. Big washers cost 98 cents each, briddle ring 1.50 each and I had the scrap 1/4" stock. There will be two.

Yea of little faith...you notice I have not said how many hours I have in those corners getting the compound curve right. Lots of green dust on the floor!

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Back at it stripped the inside windshield trim, never imagined there would be solid rust under the paint from condensation. Also stripped the front bumper and modified the drivers bumper bracket to fit around the steering box. Did some fine tuning on the cup holders, gotta love JB weld.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Today I was going to post pics of my MT Valve covers all shiney. Sunday I masked and painted them with three coats of DupliColor Hi Temp Chevy Orange. Last night I saw some areas that had poor coverage and painted one more coat. As I was admiring my work the paint started to alligator in front of my eyes! Went on line and found that you have to do all the coats you want in 1 hour, 20 minutes apart (which I did for the first 3). If you need to recoat you need to wait 7 days scuff the first coats, then recoat. Reading other message board found this does not always work. I have used their stuff for years, painting blocks over days without any problems, they must have changed up something. Anyway, going to restrip and try it again. Did get some good practice on how to remove the paint from the top of the fins and lettering.

Seat pieces turned out nice. I had the same thing happen with the paint now I know why.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Put in the radiator. Did a trial fit on the Sidewinder Winch (vintage late 60's unit from Hickey). It will not work without putting a fair lead in the bumper which I do not want to do. It hangs to low in front. I will fab up a hitch receiver to mount under bumper and use a receiver mounted winch. Gave me a chance to play with some front sheet metal and find/sort original bolts to clean and start painting. The two bottom photos show the winch were it would need to be to keep from cutting a hole in the bumper.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Cleaning fender, bed, etc. bolts on the bench wire wheel. Boring but necessary. I need something boring, Monday the dog tore his leg up and the vet got the equivelent of the price of all new rubber for the truck to put him back together. This morning the garden ditch pump puked and I got to spend the equivelent of the ac compressor I need for a rebuilt pump. Oh well, veggies will taste good.

Sucks about your dog. Hope he's ok. They cost a lot sometimes but they are worth it. Damn vets you would think they are real doctors.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Oh, he is ok, tough breed combination Louisiana Catahoula Leopard and Aussie Cattle Dog. Good thing is he is not a wound licker so it will heal up ok. Here is a picture of him subdueing his 3/4 wolf hybrid play companion. Misha is a 130# female, Murphy is about 65#.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

If he was a pure breed he would have died. My dog had to wear a plastic collar thing for about 3 weeks just because he was licking his leg. What pain! he torn up the house. I think he knew he was. He just did it to prove a point.
