Re: "Rice Rocket'
huh i uploaded pics to the puter but didnt post em lol here go
i put oil on the freeze plugs to keep the paint from sticking, i think they look cool/break up the orange.. Also, I ordered a performer rpm intake, vortec heads, arp head bolts (ouch$ for bolts$$$ lol) and a stainless bolt kit because I like pretty and attention to detail.) Getting the primer off was a pita i hope dads paint dont fall off his head he painted). Tomororw ima do lil things and maybe drive my truck into town or the DG and try to get some more cans of chevy orange motor paint. Paint my heater box get it put back on put mirrors and visors on and either order a better windshield gasket or fool with the lmc one some more. EDIT: What waterpump Do I need? (long or short and how do I tell the difference). (putting new everything on motor even tho my nasty ol motor has new stuff too) just the piece of mind and I dont wanna have stuff wearing out early). This is gonna be my baby. And How do I get the pull off of my old waterpump? (pic below) thanks

Re: "Rice Rocket'
haha well I sorta hope dads falls off (cause he gave me crap about taking mine off). But then i dont (cause he never works on cars and when he does he DOES do a good job, minus primer ordeal).
See gmc, I do give my truck some love everyday, I just forgot the pics. Now go back to work lol its nearly 12!!! What can I clean my rusty exhaust manifolds with? What kind of paint/prep? Thanks Oh and the pullys? Primer those too (reg primer) Or straight high heat paint? Or reg. paint?

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Ordered my heads, performer rpm intake, head bolts and stainless bolt kit. gonna hit my motor with more paint again (hope it sticks) if not oh well I guess.
Parts supposed to get in Wed. (CANT WAIT). Working on trying to get my windshield instsalled. I couldnt do it but imma have a shop do it in town (if they cant do it then i just buy a better seal and do it myself. Then I need a disc brake prop. valve i guess (brakes hanging like nuts), all new parts could be adj. (doubt it) or prop. valve (thought i had a disc brake one already). and the lil lady is anxious to go out. so gotta hurry, then ima steam cleainig (degresing front suspension, wire wheelin and bedliner'n the suspension and puttin motor and painting a few things underhood in.

Bout time you get something done. I got both my fenders on now, just gotta finish aligning the passenger side tomorrow, then I get to put the hood on. And on the pullies, regular primer will work, I dont think they get that hot.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Ok, so are u running a thumpr cam and vortec heads with the stock manifolds and a 500cfm carb? If this is true, get longtube headers and a good true dual exhaust. Hell bolt some glasspacks onto the the header flanges if money is tight. Those heads breathe good and they need somewhere to shove all that exhaust and stock manifolds are gonna cut down power alot. Headers for a 350 are a dime a dozen. And that carb would work good on a stock 305 or 350. Get a 650 holley or edelbrock. Good luck!

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Thanks hub!
There the 67cc exhaust chamber vortecs, the summit brand..Yeah the thumper cam by comp cams performer rpm intake, still gotta find a carb yeah 600 or 650 edelbrock probably. Ive got dual exhausts but its pretty small, with glasspacks lol Will run some headers soon, but for now ive spent enough lol. Whats the specs on your 355 86c10? Oh I got my windshield in today WITH the lmc gasket, its not very close to stock alot smaller, but its gonna be good enough for now. Its my 1st one i ever put in it was just alot smaller than the OEM one. Hopefully tomorow or the next day I get it steam cleaned CLEANNNNN Oh when I was cleaning my gfs' grandmas and aunts gutters she gave me a 1962 TN licence plate for freeeeee I'll post pics of everything later tonite!

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Here are the pics, theres alot of bondo hiding in there, (by the hole). Thats the reason I decided it was stupid fixing this cab.
Ima job it full of bondo, jb weld, silicone something like that lol and touch it all up with spray paint probably. But I got my glass in, just LMC gasket and glass, probably put some glue in it sometime, MAYBE lol Tomorow: Take the truck out with the GF, play with my parts from summit (supposed to be here tomorow), tinker with my brakes (hanging like crazy gotta do something about that), and fix my gas filler (flops around and doesnt pump very well filler hose is sorta pinched where bed and top of blazer filler is, not a very good design for a truck, then somewhere in the next couple days steam clean from cab up. I wouldnt recommend the LMC seal, unless you in a hurry/pinch. It fit ok, but wasnt as big as the factory seal, I'll let it sit in the sun tomorow and hopefully it seals up good when it cools down. Notice the pink in the bottom picture

Re: "Rice Rocket'
mines a 71 l-48 shortblock, vortec heads, comp xe268 cam, weiand stealth air gap intake, edelbrock 650, 9.7:1 compression, longtube headers to 3" true dual flowmasters and a msd streetfire distributor. Id even get a set of headers off like craigslist or something and repaint them once you get a little cash cause they will make a big difference with your setup.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
The thumpers sound good but they are more oriented for "sound" but they arent a bad cam either. Idk, they came on the truck but they have 3" collectors, dont know the diameter of the tubing though. All u need is the gaskets that line the side of the intake manifold, it probably came with the lifter valley gaskets too which will give it a good seal, it may have also came with the round distributor gasket.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
well, those valvecover gaskets wont work as mine wouldnt work with the centerbolt style valvecovers that the vortec uses. The intake manifold gasket should work, the rest you dont need besides the blue circular one which is the distributor gasket. You will need 96+ vortec valvecover gaskets. I dont think lifter valley gaskets are neccesary but theyre cheap and i put them on with alot of rtv sealant.
