Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
At least I will know who lied and who told the true........ One thing I have notice through all this is that these are american made wheels that seem to be very popular and yet the factory knew there was a problem and did not make changes quick enough........ This may indicate why industry in america in fading away........

I believe the fitment of these wheels were originally for the large GM cars (Caprice and Impalas, which just so happen to be the same as the light duty 1" truck rotors) and now they seem to be trying to make them fit the HD brakes, any tooling change takes time and money. Like it has been said a few times there are other wheels that fit these trucks without modification. I'm not sure that the company intentionally sold these wheels claiming they fit the trucks, now some of the distributors on the other hand........

I guess you didn't read the part where I said I talked directly to the MFG and they said they wouldn't even start for another 90-120 days, These are not made yet ! I GUESS i COULD BE A LIAR! But i tend not to lie about such things.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
Well guys I got my wheels thursday. I had NO Problems with them fitting the hub as far as the diameter goes..... but they are not deep enough yet....I can trim the cap and glue it and they fit with no spacer...... So I guess to say there has been a change but not good enough yet..... I am trying to decide to try and run or return them. They way I see it they will have to change the backspace to make these work correctly....

So would the cap fit with a small spacer and these would bolt right up? Any pics?

Can you flatten the bearing dust cap and make them work?
Maybe remove the dust cap and see if they will bolt on. Just curious,... how wide are your front rotors? 1" or 1.25"??? Last edited by lolife99; 12-26-2009 at 10:20 PM. |

I plan to cut off the end of the spindle and modify the dust cap. They will bolt on the 1" rotors. Always did. New design isn't out yet,... just like "Hickup Pickup" said. |

no, they wouldn't fit over the hub before on a 1.25" rotor. Now they do but the dust cap still is an issue.
Here's the pictures from his thread 18X8's

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
My 18x8 test (black) test wheel that I bought fits on my 1997 Tahoe. I'm having the spindles changed soon from BT to DJM. I may have some machining done as I really want to run the 3-spoke knock offs as well.

Re: Got some new wheels: Boss 338's in 20x10 and 20x8.5
I bought the boss 338 before i found this Thread, and just thought id share what i came up with. wheels are old design made in April 09 Using 1 1/4 rotors i had to have the rotors machined down a little and a little taken off the top, had to take a little off the spindle, cut and flatten out the cap and will have to glue on the boss center cap, but they are gonna look *****in on my 70 short bed. by the way I wont be useing my old wheels if anybody interested
