Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
You are making some good progress on the truck, and is a bummer you won't make GoodGuys, but is always next year! It is looking nice though.
We will be out there at the show, with an outside booth..... stop on by. |

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
I just saw your newsletter in my email this morning and saw that you will be there. I will surely stop by. I'll be there the whole weekend. Did PB get the front swaybars in yet?

Sucks you won't make it to goodguys this weekend but you have made great progress on the truck and will be driving in no time.

I saw the unveiling of the goodguys giveaway G10 truck. Simply AMAZING. TALKED TO JUSTIN ABOUT IT AND HE WAS really cool. Whoever wins it next year will be so lucky.

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
Well I have gotten some progress made after the car show this week so far. It is amazing how much more motivation you get after a show like Goodguys.
- I purchased a windshield and rear window gaskets along with new door rubber. All of which I got from my local Restoration World. I was surprised when they gave them to me and they were all Precision brand, I was happy. - I decided to go with headers finally. I ordered a set of the Hedman (69010)mid length headers. They fit perfect. All I had to do was reposition one of my brake lines. I just had them blasted today and will put a coat of POR 15 on them tonight. - I have been sanding like crazy. Have I mentioned how much body work sucks. - I mounted both of the doors I purchased last summer for the first time. It's safe to say that I have some work to get them to work. The driver's door fits pretty good but the rocker is too close to the bottom of the door. I will have to do some modifications in order to get it to fit right. The rocker was previously installed when I got the truck. The cab and cab corner also have too big of a gap. The Passenger door doesn't close at all. I will have to slot my hinges side to side in order to move the door back about 1/2" so I can work on lining it up. It is always something huh. Here are a few pictures of the progress.

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
Got my daughter painting some POR15 on the headers tonight. The boy was there for moral support. Also tried lining up the doors a bit more. I have some work there.

Re: 1970 SWB : Porterbuilt to the Extreme "Double E"
I have gotten a few things accomplished over the past couple weeks aside from a long needed vacation.
- Headers are painted and installed. - Crawled underneath and cleaned up wiring and air lines. - Secured brake lines and fuel lines to the frame rails. - Roughly mounted the Porterbuilt hood hinges. Plans: - I plan to start it and actually let it run this week, keep your fingers crossed. - I am trying to figure out the best setup for the gas pedal and throttle linkage. I see the best route is to install 71-72 cable and bracket. I can make an adapter for the gas pedal once I get one. - Talk to a local exhaust guy to run my exhaust. - Many other things.

Got a coat of epoxy on the roughed in body work. It is now time to buy some glaze so I can feather the body work in better.

Mike, I am so far away from paint you have no idea. Well actually you probably do but that is so far from my mind. I am kinda liking the multi-colored look haha.
