Re: What did you do to your truck today!
These are from a few days ago, I haven't put up any new pictures of what we've done over the past month or two. We put in new bucket seats from an 2001 silverado, a new steering wheel that we don't really know where it came off of, but it looks nice, we put in armrests too, we also put in a manual choke, and we've done a few personal touches that not everyone will like, but that's why it's my truck haha.
The new seats we put in. So much better then my original bench seat. What it looks like from the front. From the other side. The manual choke from o'reillys we picked up and finally put in. So much easier not having to tap the gas pedal over and over again until it's warmed up. The steering wheel we bought and put in. So much better than the monster of a wheel we originally had. This is the personal touch I was talking about. These pedals are off of base pedals from a drumset and we thought it would be a nice cool little touch for my truck. Not everyone is gonna like them, but again that's why it's my truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well as much as I hate to say it, I put it in storage today. The weather in Michgan is going south and the cold has come. I don't have the luxury of a nice place to work in the winter time, so I put it away today. I will check on it from time to time and get it back out when they stop spreading salt.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
It's been raining here in LaLa Land (hard to believe but true) so I walked out to it , fired it up and drove off.......
It's a nice rain driver in spite of the rust holes in the upper cowl that drips water onto the floor mat . Nice and comfy , good vision of the Native Born Californians who , amazingly enough , speed up in the rain ("gotta get out of this rain , Nate") then act surprised when they spin out all over the place . Even well past midnight all the So. Cal. Freeways were closed here & there with multiple vehicle pile ups , I motored on past sedately @ 55 ~ 60 MPH , radio playing softly , heater on low , elbow out the open driver's side window ~ the Cali. rain is *so* soft and warm , it's actually enjoyable to drive it in most of the time .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Hummmmm....
1) I'm not driving it while the weather is ugly. That may not answer the question. 2) I don't use it as a daily driver...But that may not answer the question, either. 2a) I just washed and spruced up everything under the hood. Not a good answer, either, probably. 3) I got into the habit of covering it for cat, leaves, birds, and weather reasons while I was building it inside. Right or wrong, I guess I'm just a man of habits. (I proved that in a bad way until September of 1981 ) 4) But, probably the best answer is that I just wanted to.....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I'm surprised the thing ran. There was a spider nest in my cap and the plugs had so much build up they looked solid. The wires were so old they stayed formed in the shape they had been in for years when I pulled them off. Two of the plugs were Valley Forge brand, anyone ever hear of them?

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
(Yesterday) Finished my HEI conversion thanks to the good advice located in this here forum. Replaced the distributor, wires, coil, plugs and added some wire guides. Ended up having to go back to zero to get it started but then it fired off first go.
So then I washed it and drove it. |
