Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I couldn't decide if I liked red or flat black so this is what I came up with.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Drove down from Northern Arizona about 320 miles to Tucson and loaded it up on a car dolly and towed it back home.
So now I get to piddle on it and finish off a laundry list of little things to get it running again. It was down at my brother's for an engine/transmission swap.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I bought my truck a new tool! Electric impact wrench with an electronic ft/lb setting on it!!! How cool is that???? Won't trust that for delicate stuff, but I am sure that will come in handy.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
After repairing the washing machine for my wife (the cold water valve wasn't opening) I was able to work on my 64. I Finally finished the retrofit of my Ford Windshield washer system into my 64 C-10. I used a Ford truck washer/radiator overflow tank out of a truck, used the squirter nozzels out of that same truck and picked up a used 64 - 66 Chevy truck 2 SPD wiper washer switch off eRape. I used the factory dimples in the firewall to drill my holes for my squirter nozzels, I removed the cowl and had to clearance (cut) out a little slice of lip that the cowl covers anyway. I also had to readjust the squirt nozzels using a 1/4" box end wrench to get the nozzels to squirt the proper height and to shoot between the vent slats in the cowl. I ran a fused hot to the pump - the washer pump switch completes the ground activating the pump. The hardest part of the whole process was adjusting the nozzels. A very slight tweek goes a long way. I'm happy & my wife's happy it was a win - win day for me.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
That washer bottle looks like it was designed for our trucks. Great job on the whole install.

Pulled the rear axles and drums, so they're off to the machine shop tomorrow to get re-drilled for 5 lugs. Got the valve covers painted

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I did them myself, they are 18" Centerline smoothies.
Instead of paint or powder coat I had a sign shop cut them out of white bus wrap and apply them to the wheels. Very durable and if they need to be changed or repaired they come off with a heat gun. Anything that can be printed on a large format printer could be printed on the material before applying to the wheel. I also had them apply a clear anti graffiti laminate over top of the white for extra protection. I plan on attaching the stock GMC hub caps much like what Delmo does. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
64shortbox,
What year did that washer/overflow come out of? Does it have the pump built in for the washer? Thanks, Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Saturday AM was Radiator Replacement Day for the 66 Ratburb.
I had the (presumably) original radiator redone back in 2009. And then used a half-bottle of Bars Leaks about 6 months ago to deal with a pinhole in the fins. But I was losing confidence, based on the green fluid around the cap of late. So here is my email to the vendor from Sunday afternoon: "I received the radiator Friday PM as indicated on the tracking status. Quick delivery- thank you. When I saw the box in the light this morning... I was a bit surprised to see the wear-and-tear holes in the box. The box had either suffered a fairly severe shipping trip, or had been moved in storage quite a few times. But I didn't think about it too much. ...until the install was finished. The lower hose dripped water steadily despite 2 retries on the lower hose clamp. Upon further investigation I realized that the lower outlet had been dinged enough times during shipping that the weld around it had failed. In fact, the outlet tube is not quite perpendicular any more." I think I will find a new radiator at my door this afternoon when I get home... they said I could keep the damaged one. |

Pre-assembly of the engine is finally underway.. hoping for it to be in the truck by the fourth.
And yes, we're building an engine in the dining-room. LOL Big thankyou to the guys who helped us solve our surface-rust issues.. lol

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
or, we both have the same interests, i mean, I am the one taking the photos 'n posts it all, while he does the work lol
The real reason we're doing it -- better light than the garage & the two of us are in a mostly empty 6-bedroom house (long story), and we figure we may as well use the space. . lol

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Well I know I can't build an engine in my house, but any spot is a great one.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
New 5 speed is in & the retro Sun tach is mounted . Eventually the tach will go where the stock tach would have been if my truck was so equipped. The T5 is such a huge improvement over the 3 on the tree.
