What a great-looking truck, I love the rough look.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Just picked this up today from an estate auction. Flip kit is on the way already. Hopefully I can find a decent deal on some drop spindles now.

Thanks, it's the nicest square I've ever owned. I was lucky to have been at the right place at the right time to get it.

It was on the drivers side inner fender.

It says:
161L 61 DOESKIN TAN SOLID

Some pictures I took yesterday while test driving after I finished adjusting the steering box. It was scary sloppy for a 54k mile truck but 10 minutes with a 5/8" wrench and 3/16" allen wrench took care of it. Should have a mess of parts showing up this week to get it back to a reliable driver. For now I'm just going to clean it up and lower it. I should make a fun summer cruiser until I decide what direction to go with it.

It's not too bad. Jack the truck up to get the wheels in the air, center the wheels, loosen the lock nut on the set screw on the top of the steering box, tighten the set screw until it bottoms out and then back it out a 1/4 turn and re-tighten the lock nut.

There's a long and drawn out process to set the steering box the technically correct way but this is a way I was shown a long time ago. I've been told it may cause the box to wear slightly faster but to me it doesn't matter since this truck won't get driven very often so it will still last a long time and I will most likely completely change the suspension/steering after a few years.

Thanks for the compliments on the truck. It will roll out of the garage fairly soon looking a little different. Discount Tire had a pretty decent deal going on so I picked up a set of 17x8, 17x9.5 MB Old Schools with 255/50/17 and 275/50/17 NT450's. I have most all of the stuff to lower it and everything to rebuild the front suspension is on the way.
