Re: What did you do to your truck today?
well the rag joint arrived today from "rock auto" so this evening was spent fitting the power steering, i had previously made the pump mounting brackets, acquired the hoses, and made an adaptor plate similar to captainfabs, after alot of trial and error with templates, clamps, and the like, it turned out pretty good and drives nice and smooth, i,ll do a proper alignment job at the weekend but i dont think its too far out. next job is to find a decent bench seat,[their a bit thin on the ground here in the uk.] may have to look into recovering the old tatty one.
the search function on here has been a real help to me with all the available info, thanks guys, i hope one day i can give something back. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I went to the store and bought a power steering pressure hose and installed it. Now I just need a darn 18mm wrench to tighten it up. I bought some garage door weather strip because everything I get for the truck seems to be cheap. I am thinking of useing it for inner fender to cab seal. I cut a piece and put there, it is not glued in yet because i am still thinking about it. And the 3rd pic.... Look Ma No Battery...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Put the lettering kit on my grill today (finally, took me almost a year, lol). BUT, of course I forgot to take a picture....but man that nice straight, freshly painted, white bumper and grill with the lettering sure looks sharp.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Went shopping and bought her some presents...
Steering column with deluxe wheel, and horn ring, no cracks in wheel, horn ring looks to be in great condition. Not sure if I overpaid or not, $250.00 for the column c/w wheel. Also picked up tail light buckets, lenses, and a tail light harness. Also got the center caps, $10 each, in decent condition, a wash and polish should make them very presentable. Birthday party today, so will get at it tomorrow!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Keep massaging on the cab getting it ready for paint. My wife keeps telling me that she wished I would give her the attention I give the truck and I tell her "well the truck doesnt talk back"... Then the talking back really gets started... By the way my wifes backyard salvage "truck limit" is 7. I reached that with my last purchase. Sunday I went and looked at a 8th and it was not received real well... Needless to say I didnt buy it...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Removed some of the cross supports from the old bed to use on the new flatbed. Because they welded metal in the floor, I had to cut all the bolts so, it's slow going.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
tracked down the issue with my high idle situation. Turns out the inline fuse connector on the electric choke circuit under the dash broke apart. Should have tested for power at the electric choke module on the carb first. Found an inline fuse connector, cut and crimped the wires, voila (that is french for "well, would you look at that!) purrs like a kitten again. Well, it leaks oil, there is blow by, and it is a beat up old 283, but it still purrs like a kitten to me!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got her as finished up as she will get for the show tomorrow and drove her to work tonight since it is on the way. Once I'm off in the morning, my car club is meeting me in my parking lot here and we're off to the Bettys, Bombs, and Bikes show over in Carson City. Gonna be a blast!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Installed new tail light buckets, trim rings, lenses, and rear wiring harness. Would have liked to have saved that stuff until after having the bed restored and painted, but I was having wiring issues, it needed to be done. I am pleased with the result, not only do the lights work , but they are remarkably brighter. I suspect grounding was an issue.
