Re: What did you do to your truck today!
VWnate1 - Yeah, when I get paid on Friday, we're gonna get a different and longer radiator hose. And, everything works fine with the lines, maybe ill replace them with the ones from rock auto when I get paid.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Nate,
I think the tach I have is a stock 6cyl. It always reads off with the 8cyl I run. Way too high. When traveling 55, it reads like 4500 rpm or something like that. I need to get rid of it. Interested?

I went to the upholstery shop, this is my seat. I wish the upholstery dude would finish my interior, he has had my truck going on 3 weeks.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I have been fighting with my Vortec 454, been having low power and high fuel consumption issues, I am thinking it is my MAP sensor, going to go get one tomorrow and see if it fixes it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I tried to put the freshly coated front upper control arms back together with the new cross shafts and bushings. The bushings would bottom out on the shaft before tightening up on the arm, so when installed, the rotation is on the arm threads instead of the greasable shaft threads. Ugh....If I understand these correctly, the bushing should lock down on the control arm. The shaft is centered because the bushings are tight on it, and there is equal gap between the hex ends and the control arm....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I removed my Barden rear bumper (the thing must weigh 75 lbs!) and pulled apart the tailight wiring to get the tailights to work. Anyone in NorCal wanna trade a bigass Barden bumper for a stock smoothie bumper???

I imagine you could simply google the P/N and it'll tell you if 6 or 8 cylinder .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Nate, looks like it is an 8cyl tach.
P/N even says it's an 8 cylinder Just wish I knew why it reads off so bad.

Open the driver's side door on the truck. Climb in facing the windshield. Adjust the seat and mirrors, if needed. Maybe the tilt steering wheel. Push the odo button, if you have one, until it reads "0". If you don't, and you probably won't, make a mental note of the fourth digit from the right on the milage counter (odometer). You'll need that later. Insert key in the big round thing under the ashtray (to the left of the heater/air conditioning controls). Turn the key to the right. But only for long enough so that you can hear the engine start. If you let go, the truck will keep running. Look up. Look left. Look right. Look in the rear and side view mirrors. If you have an auto trans like mine, the gear selector is on the steering column. Select the appropriate gear. If you are backing out of a driveway...In fact, if anything is in front of you that's pretty close, choose "R". But before you do that, check to see if the emergency brake is on...Put your foot on the foot brake. Keep it there while you release the e-brake. Keep it there while you 1) select the proper gear..."D" usually works pretty well... and, 2) Look up. Look left. Look right. Look in the rear and side view mirrors. Again. Signal if you're into that. Assuming an auto trans, release the foot brake and, at the same time, use the same foot (right) to lightly (if that's the way you want to start out) press on the big rectangular foot pedal that's all the way to the right (on the floor). If you have a standard trans, column or floor shifter, someone else will have to chime in. Then, drive around until that fourth digit from the right adds up to one more number than when you started. If it was a "9" when you started, you'll be looking for a "0". Another good tip is to check for gas. I mean, check to make sure there's gas *in the truck*. DAMHIK to do this....just make sure. And, oh, you can't always rely on that big gage on the right side of the dash. Sometimes it reads Full when it's really "Empty". Just a bad joke that is sometimes played on 67-72m truck owners. Don't know who started it..... Hope you have a sense of humor...No disrespect intended...Just in a joking mood tonight...
