This seems like a great deal if it is rust free.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds
Mike, I'm pretty sure all big block SPIDs would read as 400 by 71. 70 is the oddball year where the engine crossed over from 396 to 402 and both the 396 and 400 seen on SPIDs.
So here's a thought, I wonder if there is any correlation to what's actually in the truck or if it's just at some point the factory cut over to the new nomenclature. In other words, did a 70 with a 396 get 396 on its SPID and a 70 with a 402 got 400 on its SPID? Or did all the big block trucks at a given plant have 396 listed up until a certain point in time where the plant just started printing 400 instead, regardless of which big block it had. In early 70, could a 396 have been installed and ever labeled a 400 on the SPID...? (or vice versa, a plant change over to the new nomenclature on the SPID while still installing the last few 396s?) Hmm. You'd never really know unless you had an original scenario to dig into. And you might not know even based on a build sheet because the SPID likely matches its nomenclature as 396 or 400; it could have just been a naming convention changeover date at some point. Dunno... Prospective new truck buyers didn't "run the numbers" on the engine block back then, they would just assume the truck had what the SPID said. Now paging Keith, Paging Keith Seymore? |

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds
Regarding post 6533 Old Blue K20. I spoke with the owner, I asked him what the first three letters of the vin were? He said it’s a 72 K20 and I’m not giving out the vin number. He then said that he bought the truck in CA or AZ can’t remember, and he bought it without seeing the vin. He wanted to know why I wanted to know the first three letters, saying that’s not going to tell me anything. Saying I’m in Ca and all the scammer on C/L “ come in person and look at it “ then he basically hung up on me. Good luck with that sale, or maybe not.

Since were on the subjects of big blocks. Looks like he dropped his price.
Looks like a good price if someone is looking to restore a big block car or truck. https://stockton.craigslist.org/pts/...884806470.html Last edited by Blue18; 06-17-2019 at 12:35 AM. |

72 C20 Custom Deluxe Highlander Custom Camper $75k
Word of caution - recommend NOT mentioning that it's a Highlander and came with a plaid seat when complimenting the owner on this beautiful truck. |

The appraiser that I use for my vehicles provides samples of comparable sales when he gives me my appraisals. The above truck is absolutely beautiful, But it sure isn’t $75k beautiful. The fact of the matter is, it’s a long box and outside of this forum they just aren’t as desirable and I highly doubt that we will see the day when they are worth the asking price. As far as his price goes. Buyers dictate prices, not sellers. This truck will only sell for what someone else thinks it’s worth. The seller will figure that out himself, I think it’ll be for sale for awhile.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds
3/4 ton goodness....I would start by ridding it of that tired Targetmaster 350 and find me a 5.3...then dip the entire body in a vat and get rid of that pool paint the PO used on it

IMO that doesn’t look like a factory AC setup on that 72 K20 in Saginaw.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds
I'll bet the GMC hauled a slide-in camper for much of its existence. I suspect that thingy under the vent window is a level.
