I guess my auto body background helps me with drywall mud . I usually only have to use a trowel to knock of the occasional ridge and wet sponge to feather it in .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

What you need to know about drywall finishing is focus on feathering and don't sweat the ridges. As mark said, they scrape right off with the drywall knife or disappear instantly when sanding. I always sand. Just takes a few strokes and assures the best texture. For skim coat it's a good idea to mix a little water into the pre-mix for the smoothest coat and better feathered edges. I'll have pictures of plaster walls I restored coming up soon. Walls totally skim coated after repairing cracks and loose plaster.

Actually, I do have the before and during pictures now. There was '70s paneling before, then wallpaper to remove

Or maybe Kawasaki green with black fenders to match my other Bug? Depends on what's on sale. I'm hoping to finish the whole car for under $2K including the price of the car. That's possible but not likely. Time will tell. I was going to part it but she said to keep it to give the grandkids rides. What the heck I like it.

Before... And the Mustang emblem on the front is going bye bye. I just haven't got to it yet.

If that front end is fiberglass it might have a gel coat. And you could rub that out to get to the original color, match that, and spray bomb the rest of it.

Paul that thing also has a Model A front bumper on it which were nothing more than a couple of leaf springs married together.

Yeah it's fiberglass and the local hardware store has camo green paint that matches it perfectly. So, this being a budget build I'm spray bombing the back. The new rear fenders get here tomorrow. If the rain lets up and I can get to it before my throat surgery I'll get that done. I'm gong to do camo with black fenders.

The front looks to have been painted at one time. God only knows when? I'll re-spray it too. The paint is cheap enough.

That Model A bumper is destined to be yard art now. That thing is HEAVY! It's lucky that I didn't drop it on my toe. That would have smarted and broke my toe.

The weather has slowed me down but I'm trying to get as much done as I can before I go under the knife because I'm pretty sure I'll be laid up for awhile after that which sucks because I was just feeling better again. But it is what it is. Gotta do it.

That particular flag set on the front fender denotes a big block. Hot Rod!

I remember when I worked for the local Chevrolet dealer out of high school, the local CHP officers seemed to buy a lot of the hot rod cars off the used car lot. I guess those 440 Polara patrol cars spoiled them.

Yep, big block gonna run you down . Later, our troopers had Polaras or Fury IIIs. I took my drivers license test in a '71 Fury III. How I parallel parked that big boat is a mystery to me. I remember it had pretty poor rear vision and I had never driven the car before

In case anyone is interested, the first two are pictures of that plaster repair job completed.

Agreed. I always thought so. Back when car wheels took wheel covers (steelies) our troopers were allowed to put their own on their cruiser. They'd move them to the new one. I always thought that was cool, too

Nothing to do on any of our rolling stock, so enjoyed a cup of coffee while burning a bunch of sap filled pinecones, while looking at where my boiler slab will be.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Unusually warm weather . This is something I wasn’t planning on doing until spring the rear door on my camper was getting very bad hard to open and close and it finally got to the point I had no choice . Used pressure treated screwed and glued with construction adhesive. Letting it cure in the basement overnight and reinstall tomorrow

re-did the bumper on my "new" truck. it's not insured, so shouldn't count?
got 2 good bumpers on my stepper, but can't bring myself to start tearing apart a good running truck yet, so dolled up the old one for now.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

that helped it out a lot. I think a black bumper suits it better than chrome, since it was the only chrome on the truck

I posted this in the "Tractor Thread", with no response so far. Over the weekend I worked on a friend's '72 John Deere 2520 Row Crop tractor. The couple to the hydraulic pump blew apart and he says the pump has been leaking a long time. I believe that by the mess. Parts are ordered and I got it torn down and ready.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Had to go get my wife her Tacoma wouldn’t shift press the clutch nothing . I get to where she is about 45 minutes from home check the clutch master and it’s empty . I put some fluid in it pumped the crap out of the clutch peddle just to get a puddle of fluid under the truck . Pretty sure the line blew called AAA and they tell me at least two hours . No way am I sitting there that long . I have her get in my truck I get into the Tacoma hit the clutch bypass switch and start it in 2nd gear . I was able to shift on the roll so I managed to get home with only stopping once and having to turn it off . Plenty of rolling stop signs

21 years it was OEM .

Busy day had to make a new retainer for the plow . This holds the pin in the lock position. The closest dealer didn’t have one and it could have been weeks to get . After that I primed the steering wheel still needs a little fill here and there

I guess I caught " pantry fever ". Got my list together, went to town, came home and built her some canning shelves. We heat and cool the garage anyway, so I may as well put it to good use.

did the clutch slave in my stepper 2 months ago. wasn't 55 out though....
last week the clutch started acting weird, checked and there was practically no fluid. searched everywhere for a leak and couldn't find nuthin'....till i moved the floor mat in the cab. push rod seals, prob cause of more pressure from the new slave. one thing i have always hated about my stepper- has carpets. first and prob only truck ever had or will have carpets...give me rubber

My buddy and I moved my old poker machine into my river place just in case no one likes how I deal at the table. We are both getting too old to move heavy objects especially up stairs. It collapsed the first table we put it on right onto my toes. . It's a heavy SOB. I still need to level it out but my toes and my back hurt so it's got to be tomorrow. Good enough for today.
