Re: And so it begins................

Thanks bro! They would look better if they would light up a little more. I guess my dash light issue is still "ongoing". I might stick a couple of the purple ones back in the 2 outer locations until I get some different bulbs. I also lost the fiber optic light on my shift colum so I guess I need to replace that socket.

It's never done!

It's a novel idea huh?

Well it isn't alot of fun to replace the wiper motor but it isn't impossible. I had never done one on these trucks before and I managed to get through it without too much trouble. If's a motivator to take care of other things that need attention too.

Repairs look good man. Head on down here, and I have vacuum line that we can get you fixed up with.

On the bulbs. Have you thought about using some of the LED's? That may give you the look you're wanting, and the brightness as well.

I will be in for the vacum line! As for the leds I'm not sure yet. They say the leds aren't any brighter so I don''t know.

I'll tell you what. You build me one of those 10,000 engines too and I will come and install all new wiper/washer setup!!

Speaking of engines, I rounded up my new block for the 383 tonight from a guy up in Piedmont. I got a virgin 4bolt with 2piece rear seal to go with my 400 crankshaft and it has almost no ring ridge at all. There is a catch though. The casting number is 3970010. So, this block could potentially be a numbers matching 302 Z28 block from a '69 camaro. Therefore, I could probably turn a profit on it, help someone finish a numbers matching resto project and get another 4bolt from the same guy with money left over. But then I'd lose the right to say I built my 383 from a 302 Z28 block! Decisions decisions.

I'm probably gonna keep it. The block was cast for 302, 327, and 350 so it's probably not as important as I think it is!

Re: And so it begins................

If it's a DZ302 block man it's important to a Camaro guy. Some guys will pay pretty penny for one of those. Not as much as one that is complete with the correct intake and stuff, but may be worth looking into.

Some people think the 2bolts are stronger than the 4bolts. I don't subscribe to that but there were some 400 small blocks that had a tendancy to crack the webbing at the outer main bolts. Still, if you're going to sustain high rpm or alot of heavy towing 4bolt will always be stronger. With your block, you have the option of installing splayed 4bolts. That is by far the strongest way to go. What are you going to build with it?

I don't know if it's a 302 block or not. I was just shooting the bull. More than likely it's from a 350.

It is a complete short block.
It is .040 over. I had planned on putting it in the 80, but I haven't gotten any heads for it yet.

yeah no doubt

I can do the pump for you but the going rate right now is a 10,000 dollar engine. Can you swing it?

Then you'd be ok with the 58cc 305 heads. Make it run pretty good in fact. I thought you had a set of those?

Re: And so it begins................

Yes I do have a pair of those heads.
They are on the engine in the 80 now.
They would need a little work. I have thought about using those or finding some 64cc heads. I know where I can get a set of TBI heads, but they are gonna need work also. I wouldn't mind vortecs either. Maybe after I get the crew on the road I'll do something with it

Dang.............................

Lay down on my couch and tell me all about it.

Just playing dude. Everybody gets stung by the truck bug. I picked this truck up last April and within 2 months I had already dropped 2500 before I realized it. You could have done a TT 6.0L but then yours would be like everyone elses on the LSx list brother. I prefer to tell people about my buddies 10,000 gen1 engine.
